Côte De Beauté
The Côte de Beauté is a part of the south-western coastline of France, situated south of the peninsula of Arvert, in the department of Charente-Maritime (region Nouvelle-Aquitaine). Its capital is the town of Royan. The limits are, approximately, Coubre Point on the edge of the Atlantic ocean, in the commune of Les Mathes, and the cliffs of Meschers-sur-Gironde, on the estuary of Gironde. Nevertheless, the National Counsel of Geographic Information considers that the Côte de Beauté extends from Coubre Point, in Charente-Maritime up to Négade Point in Gironde. Six seaside resorts constitute the backbone of tourism in the Côte de Beauté: * La Palmyre (commune of Les Mathes) * Saint-Palais-sur-Mer * Vaux-sur-Mer * Royan * Saint-Georges-de-Didonne * Meschers-sur-Gironde Following the definition of the National Council of Geographic Information two more can be included, Le Verdon-sur-Mer and Soulac-sur-Mer (on the opposite bank of the estuary, in Gironde). Côte D'Argent
Côte d’Argent (; ) is a name given to part of the Atlantic coast of the Aquitaine region in France. Etymology The term was first coined to describe the Aquitaine coast in 1905 by the journalist and poet Maurice Martin. The Congrès national des sociétés de géographie officially approved the name in 1907. The region it referred to eventually shrunk; the northern part including Royan became the Côte de Beauté and the southern part including Anglet became the Basque Coast. Geography In the south-west of France, facing the Atlantic Ocean, ''La Côte d’Argent'' is part of the Bay of Biscay. It is limited at its north by the Gironde mouth and at its south by the river Adour. Miss Europe
Miss Europe is a beauty pageant for European women from all over Europe. It was established in February 1927 by Fanamet, the European distributor of Paramount, as a one-off event where the winner was to star in a film directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau. After the initial twelve-person jury couldn't decide between 10 contestants, a runoff election was held where Murnau chose the winner. Murnau ended up choosing Štefica Vidačić of Yugoslavia as the winner and the first ever Miss Europe. Miss Europe was later re-established in December 1928 by French journalist Maurice de Waleffe (1874–1946), who also created, in 1920, what by 1927 had become the Miss France pageant.
