César Caneda
César Fernández de las Heras Caneda (born 10 May 1978) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a defender. He played more than 380 matches in both the Segunda División and the Segunda División B, in a senior career that spanned more than two decades. In La Liga, he appeared for Athletic Bilbao. Club career Caneda was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava. Another product of Athletic Bilbao's prolific youth system at Lezama, he could never however fully establish in the first team, only playing a maximum of ten matches in two different La Liga seasons, also having appeared in the 1998–99 UEFA Champions League. He was also loaned to UD Salamanca, Sevilla FC and Racing de Santander, all in the Segunda División (he won promotion with the latter two, being regularly used). The Campeonato de España–Copa de Su Majestad el Rey, commonly known as Copa del Rey or simply La Copa and formerly known as Copa del Presidente de la República (1932–36) and Copa del Generalísimo (1939–76), is an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football, organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The 2011–12 Copa del Rey was the 110th staging of the Copa del Rey (including two seasons where two rival editions were played). The competition began on 31 August 2011 and ended on 25 May 2012 with the final, which was held at the Vicente Calderón Stadium in Madrid. Entering the competition, the winners were assured of a place in the group stage of the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League. The 1998–99 UEFA Champions League was the 44th season of the UEFA Champions League, Europe's premier club football tournament, and the seventh since it was renamed from the "European Champion Clubs' Cup" or "European Cup".
