Cárdenas, Tabasco
Cárdenas is the second-largest city in the Mexican state of Tabasco, in southeastern Mexico. At the census of 2005 the city had a population of 79,875 inhabitants, while the municipality had 219,563 inhabitants. There are numerous smaller communities in the municipality, but the largest are Sánchez Magallanes and Campo Magallanes. The area of the municipality is 2,112 km² (815.45 sq mi). Tabasco, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Tabasco, is one of the Political divisions of Mexico, 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into Municipalities of Tabasco, 17 municipalities and its capital city is Villahermosa. Sánchez Magallanes
Sánchez Magallanes is a small fishing town and port located in the far northwest of the state of Tabasco, Mexico in the municipality of Cárdenas, Tabasco, Cárdenas. It is named after a leader in the Second French intervention in Mexico, French Intervention in Mexico, Coronel Andrés Sánchez Magallanes. The town is located on small peninsula which is between the Gulf of Mexico and a lagoon called Del Carmen Lagoon, Del Carmen, which the port faces.
