Cynthia Meyer
Cynthia Barbara Meyer (born October 6, 1965, in New York City, United States) is a Canadian Clay pigeon shooting, trap shooter who won a gold medal for Canada at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England. Meyer is also a former world championship medalist in the double trap. Meyer was on Canada's Olympic teams in Canada at the 1996 Summer Olympics, 1996, Canada at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2000 and Canada at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004. After missing out on selection for the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, 2012 Olympics, Meyer was named to Canada's team for the 2016 Olympics. Canada competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, held from 15 September to 1 October 2000. 294 competitors, 150 men, and 144 women, took part in 175 events in 29 sports. The final days of the Olympics for Canada were somewhat overshadowed by the death of Pierre Trudeau, the country's 15th prime minister. When the closing ceremonies took place, he was lying in state, allowing Canadians to travel to Ottawa to pay their respects. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC; french: Comité olympique canadien) is a private, non-profit organization that represents Canada at the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is also a member of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO).
