Cyclocorinae
Cyclocoridae is a family of elapoid snakes endemic to the Philippines. Taxonomy It was initially erected as a subfamily (Cyclocorinae) in 2017 to house four enigmatic, endemic genera containing seven species and one then-undescribed lineage that are more closely related to one another than to members of the families Atractaspididae or to other former subfamilies of the Lamprophiidae. The undescribed lineage was described in 2020 as the new genus '' Levitonius''. Previously placed within the Colubridae, a 2017 study by Weinell et al. found strong support the monophyly of Cyclocorinae within Lamprophiidae, but its position relative to the other subfamilies of Lamprophiidae is not resolved. Elapoidea
The Elapoidea are a Superfamily (biology), superfamily of snakes in the clade Colubroides, traditionally comprising the families Lamprophiidae and Elapidae. Advanced genomic sequence studies, however, have found lamprophiids to be paraphyletic in respect to elapids. In describing the subfamily Cyclocorinae, Weinell et al. (2017) suggested some or all subfamilies of Lamprophiidae should be reevaluated at full family status as a way to prevent the alternative, which is classifying them as elapids. This was followed in later studies such as Zaher et al. (2019). The Reptile Database considers Elapoidea to be synonymous with its sister group Colubroidea (in contrast to other studies that distinguish between both), as it does not recognize the division of Colubridae into multiple families that comprise Colubroidea, and thus instead considers Colubroidea to be composed of Colubridae + the multiple families comprising Elapoidea. ''Myersophis'' is a genus of snake in the family Cyclocoridae. It contains only one species, ''Myersophis alpestris'' or Myers' mountain snake, which is endemic to the Philippines. It is only known from two specimens collected near Banaue from Mountain Province in northern Luzon. Both were collected at above sea level. Nothing else is known about this species, such as its habitat, and the holotype has since been lost. Lamprophiidae
The Lamprophiidae are a family of snakes found throughout much of Africa, including the Seychelles. There are 89 species as of July 2022. Biology Lamprophiids are a very diverse group of snakes. Many are terrestrial but some are fossorial (e.g. ''Amblyodipsas'') or semi-aquatic (e.g. ''Lycodonomorphus''). Some are fast-moving (e.g. ''Psammophis'') whereas others are slow (e.g. ''Duberria''). They are found in deserts, grasslands, tropical forests and mountains. Together they feed on mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. Some species use constriction to subdue their prey (e.g. ''Boaedon''). Cyclocorus
''Cyclocorus'' is a genus of cyclocorid snakes endemic to the Philippines. They are found on every major island except for those of the Palawan chain. ''Cyclocorus'' are found in forested areas on the ground beneath logs or in debris piles. They eat other snakes, including ''Pseudorabdion'' and ''Calamaria'', as well as lizards and eggs. They breed during the rainy season (December to March) and lay 5 to 6 eggs underneath logs or in ant hills. The average adult size of ''Cyclocorus'' is about 40 cm, and the maximum size is about 48 cm in total length.
