The Cyclo-cross Grand Prix Lille Métropole is a cyclo-cross race held in Roubaix, France, as part of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is a season-long competition in cyclo-cross, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). First held in the 1993–1994 season, there are currently five awards, tailored to the different categories of riders .... It was first run in 2006 and became a World Cup event in the 2008−2009 and the 2009−2010 season. After a hiatus Roubaix returned to the World Cup for the 2012−2013 season. It was also to have been a round of the 2014-2015 World Cup but the race had to be cancelled. UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup
The UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup is a season-long competition in cyclo-cross, organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). First held in the 1993–1994 season, there are currently five awards, tailored to the different categories of riders: Men Elite, Women Elite, Men Under 23, Women Under 23, and Men Junior. The World Cup is not to be confused with the World Championship, also organised by the UCI, which is a single one day race that awards the winner with a rainbow jersey to be worn in every race till the next World Championship. Typically the World Championships are held a week or two after the end of the World Cup at the end of January or early February. In November 2014 the first round of the World Cup ever to take place outside mainland Europe was held in Milton Keynes, England. Erwin Vervecken
Erwin Vervecken (born 23 March 1972) is a former Belgian professional cyclist specialising in cyclo-cross. Vervecken was professional cyclists for 16 seasons (1995–2010) and works since his retirement as an external sportive consultant for sportmarketing company Golazo where he helps organizing cyclocross and mountainbike races and does the coordination of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. Sven Nys
Sven Nys (; born 17 June 1976) is a former professional cyclist competing in cyclo-cross and mountain bike. With two world championships, seven world cups, and over 140 competitive victories, he is considered one of the best cyclo-cross racers of his generation, and remains a prominent figure in cyclo-cross. Apart from cyclo-cross, Nys is also fivefold national mountainbike champion, and has competed in that discipline in two Olympic games. Zdeněk Štybar (; born 11 December 1985) is a Czech professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . While best known as a cyclo-cross racer, in 2011 Štybar began his professional road career while continuing to race cyclo-cross.
