The Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Arena, is an indoor arena and velodrome in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, Scotland. Built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, these venues hosted the badminton and track cycling events. Situated opposite Celtic Park in the East End, Glasgow, East End of Glasgow, the complex is the headquarters of Sportscotland and Scottish Cycling. History It was built on a site at a cost of £113 million. The construction work took place between 2009 and 2012. The venue opened in October 2012. Melissa Hoskins (born 24 February 1991) is an Australian former track and road racing cyclist. She topped the general classification in the 2012 Tour of Chongming Island. She was a member of the Australian track cycling team pursuit team that finished in fourth place at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Hoskins announced her retirement from professional cycling on 2 May 2017. Joanna Katie Rowsell MBE (born 5 December 1988) is a retired English cyclist on the Great Britain Cycling Team who competed on track and road. Georgia Williams (born 25 August 1993) is a New Zealand professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam .
