Amy Roberts
Amy Rose Roberts (born 24 December 1994) is a Welsh racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Team . Career Born in Llanelli, Roberts was brought up in Pontyberem. She attended Queen Elizabeth High School, Carmarthen. Roberts took up triathlon at the age of 14, she joined the Towy Riders cycling club to improve her cycling skills and within a year of doing so had become the Under-16 Welsh National Cyclo-cross Champion. Roberts was part of British Cycling's Olympic Talent Team. Roberts represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2014, competing in the time trial, individual pursuit, scratch and points race. Personal life Roberts' younger sister Jessica Roberts is also a professional cyclist, who won the 2018 British National Road Race Championships. Llanelli
Llanelli ("St Elli's Parish"; ) is a market town and the largest community in Carmarthenshire and the preserved county of Dyfed, Wales. It is located on the Loughor estuary north-west of Swansea and south-east of the county town, Carmarthen. The town had a population of 25,168 in 2011, estimated in 2019 at 26,225. The local authority was Llanelli Borough Council when the county of Dyfed existed, but it has been under Carmarthenshire County Council since 1996. Name Spelling The anglicised spelling “Llanelly” was used until 1966, when it was changed to Llanelli after a local public campaign. British National Circuit Race Championships
The British National Circuit Race Championships cover several different categories of British road bicycle racing events, normally held annually. The first championships were held in 1979 for professional cyclists only. Amateur championships were introduced in 1993 but only 3 of these were held as the amateur and professional championships were combined into an open event in 1996. Laura Kenny
Dame Laura Rebecca Kenny, Lady Kenny ( Trott; born 24 April 1992) is a British track and road cyclist who specialises in track endurance events, specifically the team pursuit, omnium, scratch race, elimination race and madison disciplines. With six Olympic medals, having won both the team pursuit and the omnium at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and madison at the 2020 Olympics, along with a silver medal from the team pursuit at the 2020 Olympics, she is both the most successful female cyclist, and the most successful British female athlete, in Olympic history. Her husband, fellow British track cyclist Sir Jason Kenny, holds the same national and Olympic achievement on the male side, and together they are the most successful married couple in Olympic history where both spouses have won at least one gold medal (with 12 gold and three silver medals between them). Ciara Horne
Ciara Maurizia Horne (born 17 September 1989) is a British racing cyclist. Having formerly represented Ireland at an international level, Horne has switched nationality and currently rides on the track for the Welsh Cycling backed Team USN, and also races on the road for the Breast Cancer Care racing team. Horne formed part of the Great Britain team who became 2014 European champions in the team pursuit. Career Horne was brought up in Kenilworth, near Coventry, Warwickshire, and attended Stratford Girls' Grammar School, Horne obtained a First Class degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham in 2013. Horne began her sporting life at the age of 7 as a swimmer. She competed at the national level until the age of 16 when she suffered a serious shoulder injury which required surgery. Hayley Louise Jones (born 26 September 1995) is a Welsh racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Team . From Port Talbot, Jones was a member of the record breaking, gold medal winning, British team pursuit squad at the Juniors world championships in 2013. Early career Hayley Jones is the daughter of Phil and Louise Jones, the sprint gold medalist for Wales at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. Jones was part of British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme for 2012/2013. She was a member of the bronze medal-winning British team pursuit squad at the Junior world championships in 2012. That year, she was living with her family in Brisbane, Australia, Jones teamed up with Taylah Jennings and Alexandra O'Dea, to win gold in the junior team pursuit at the Australian National Track Championships.
