Brands Hatch
Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England, United Kingdom. Originally used as a grasstrack motorcycle circuit on farmland, it hosted 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and currently hosts many British and International racing events. The venue is owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation. Circuit Brands Hatch offers two layout configurations. The "Indy Circuit" layout is located entirely within a natural amphitheatre offering spectators views of almost all of the shorter configuration from wherever they watch. Denise Schindler
Denise Schindler (born 9 November 1985) is a German Paralympic cyclist. Life and career Schindler got into a tram accident when she was 3 years old which resulted in her right leg being amputated below the knee. She began cycling when she was 18. She participated at the Paralympic Games in 2012, where she won a silver medal in the women's road race C1–3 event, and in 2016, where she won a silver medal in the women's road time trial C1–3 event and a bronze medal in the women's road race C1–3 event. Schindler worked with software company Autodesk to develop of a new process for making prosthetics for amputees which could be measured digitally and made using 3D printing. The resulting prosthetic was lighter, cheaper and could take five days to make rather than 10 weeks. She used it at the 2016 Paralympic Games. Allison Jones (athlete)
Allison Jones (born in Amarillo, Texas, on May 12, 1984) is a Paralympic skier and cyclist for the United States of America. She was born with the birth defect proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD), which left her without a right femur. She underwent surgery at age 7 months to amputate her right foot, allowing her to more easily wear a prosthetic leg. She received her first prosthetic leg at 9 months of age. Allison moved from Amarillo, TX to Colorado Springs, CO at age 2 and a half. Education She has a mechanical engineering degree from University of Denver where she received the "Pioneer Award". Career At the 2006 Winter Paralympics she won a gold medal for slalom in the standing category. Cycling at the 2012 Summer Paralympics consisted of 50 events in two main disciplines, track cycling and road cycling. Track cycling was held in London Velopark from 30 August to 2 September, and road cycling took place at Brands Hatch from September 5 to September 8. Classification Cyclists are given a classification depending on the type and extent of their disability. The classification system allows cyclists to compete against others with a similar level of function. The class number indicates the severity of impairment with "1" being most impaired. Raquel Acinas Poncelas (born 12 April 1978 in L'Hospitalet) is a Spanish cyclist who has represented Spain at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Paralympics in both road and track events. She also competed at the 2013 World Championships. Personal Acinas was born in L'Hospitalet, Catalan town of Spain, near Barcelona city. She has a degree in architecture and works in the field as a technical architect. On 1 August 2004, Acinas was 26 years old, she had a femoral amputation her left leg following an accident in which an SUV rammed into her motorcycle. Simone Kennedy (born 4 January 1994) is an Australian cyclist. She represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and won a silver medal in the individual pursuit C1-3. Jayme Paris
Jayme Richardson (née Paris, born 27 April 1989) is an Australian Paralympic cyclist. She was born in the Sydney suburb of Blacktown with cerebellar ataxia due to asphyxiation at birth. She began cycling in October 2004 after seeing a post Athens Paralympic interview with Silver Medalist Claire McLean where Claire said Australia needed more female Para-cyclists. At the time Jayme was a swimmer and was doing very well, having competed both through school to CHS Level and out of school to National Level, however she felt that there was something greater out there for her and decided that a change was needed.
