Cycling At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Qualification
Summary Following publication of full track cycling quotas - 25 April 2012. Although in theory an NOC is entitled to qualify up to one place per track event for a total of eighteen quota places, a limit of 14 riders (8 men, 6 women ) is placed on each NOC, with the possibility of drafting in two further riders from other cycling events. For certain countries, therefore, the number of quota places won will significantly exceed the numbers of riders qualified. 2012 Summer Olympics
The 2012 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad and also known as London 2012) was an international multi-sport event held from 27 July to 12 August 2012 in London, England, United Kingdom. The first event, the group stage in women's football, began on 25 July at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, followed by the opening ceremony on 27 July. 10,768 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in the 2012 Olympics. Following a bid headed by former Olympic champion Sebastian Coe and the then- London mayor Ken Livingstone, London was selected as the host city at the 117th IOC Session in Singapore on 6 July 2005, defeating bids from Moscow, New York City, Madrid, and Paris. Mei Yu Hsiao
Hsiao Mei-yu (; born 7 January 1985 in Taichung, Taiwan) is a Taiwanese road and track bicycle racer. She participated in the 2006 and 2010 Asian Games. In 2010, she won a gold medal at the women's road race event. In the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's road race, she finished over the time limit, and competed in the women's omnium, placing 17th. Hsiao next participated in the 2014 Asian Games and won four medals, including a gold in the women's omnium. In 2016 Hsiao returned to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro to compete in the Cycling Track Women's Omnium event, where she received 64 points to place 17th, the same placement as at the London Olympics four years earlier. Pia Ann-Katrine Sundstedt (born 2 May 1975, in Kokkola) is a professional former cyclist, who competes in road bicycle racing and mountain bike racing, as well as cross-country skiing events. Sundstedt competed in the Summer Olympics for Finland. Having started in 2006, Sundstedt competes for Rocky Mountain/Business Objects mountain bike racing team. In 2000, Sundstedt won the Montreal World Cup event and competed for Finland at the 2000 Summer Olympics. In recent years, the four-time national Finnish national road cycling champion focused her attentions toward marathon mountain bike races and cross country skiing events. Her efforts paid off in 2006 when Sundstedt captured two World Cup events and the overall individual points championship in the UCI World Cup for Cross Country Marathon (XCM). Jutatip Maneephan ( th, จุฑาธิป มณีพันธุ์; born 8 July 1988) is a Thai road bicycle racer and track cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's Continental Team . Career Maneephan was born and raised in the Roi Et Province in Thailand's Northeast region. Maneephan began her cycling career as a track cyclist. She competed at the 2008, 2009 and 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. She switched to road racing and was the gold medalist in the women's road race competition during the 2009 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
