Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England, United Kingdom. Alex Zanardi
Alessandro "Alex" Zanardi (; born 23 October 1966) is an Italian professional racing driver and paracyclist. He won the CART championship in 1997 and 1998, and took 15 wins in the series. He also raced in Formula One from 1991 to 1994 and again in 1999; his best result was a sixth-place finish in the 1993 Brazilian GP. He returned to CART in 2001, but a major crash in the 2001 American Memorial resulted in the amputation of his legs. He returned to racing less than two years after the accident; competing in the European Touring Car Championship in 2003–2004 and then in the World Touring Car Championship between 2005 and 2009, scoring four wins. In addition to continuing to race cars, Zanardi took up competition in handcycling, a form of paralympic cycling, with the stated goal of representing Italy at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Ernst Van Dyk
Ernst Francois van Dyk OIS (born 4 April 1973) is a South African wheelchair racer and handcyclist. He has won a record 10 wheelchair titles in the Boston Marathon. He was also awarded the Laureus World Sports Awards for ''Sportsperson with a Disability of the year'' for 2006. At the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, he won a bronze medal in the 400 metres. At the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, he won a silver medal in the 800 metre race, another silver in the 1500 metres, and a bronze in the 5000 metres. At the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing van Dyk won gold in the handcycling road race as well as bronze in the wheelchair marathon. Wim Decleir (born 5 March 1971) is a former Paralympian sportsman from Belgium. He competed in para-cycling. Personal history Decleir was born in Belgium in 1971. He was a promising football player for former Belgian first division club, K.R.C. Harelbeke. After a motorcycle accident in 1989, his left leg was amputated in 1995. Jetze Plat
Jetze Plat (born 10 June 1991 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch para-cyclist in the H4 class. He also competes in the paratriathlon. Career Plat was born with two stunted legs. In 1995, Plat started using a handcycle, to cycle to school. Later he started practising the sport para-cycling. In the beginning of his athletic career Plat was coached and trained by Kees van Breukelen. As Plat improved in the sport he was coached by Ralf Bekers. During the World Cup in Rome, Plat qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London. In the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, Plat competed in both cycling and para-triathlon. Oscar Sanchez (cyclist)
Oscar "Oz" Sanchez (born December 2, 1975) is an American Paralympic handcyclist and triathlete. A former Marine, he has a spinal cord injury following a motorcycle accident in 2001. He started handcycling competitively in 2006, and competes in the H5 classification. At the 2011 Parapan American Games, Sanchez won a gold in the road race and time trial for his classification. He won medals at the 2008, 2012 Paralympic Games and 2016 Paralympic Games. Sanchez was also a medallist at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Johan Reekers (born 28 December 1957, in Enschede) is a Dutch Paralympian who was born without legs. He was on the gold medal winning Dutch sitting volleyball teams of 1980 and 1984. Stuart Tripp
Stuart Tripp (born 13 June 1970) is an Australian cyclist. He won a silver medal in the Men's Road Time Trial H5 at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and competed at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Personal Tripp was born on 13 June 1970 in Traralgon, Victoria. His right leg was amputated following a 1994 car accident that had left him in a coma for several weeks after the initial accident. The accident happened when he was 23 years old and also resulted in both his legs being broken. Neither drugs nor alcohol were causes and his seatbelt helped save his life. Following his accident, he turned to alcohol and smoking cigarettes as a form of coping but he eventually stopped using both. Tripp is a qualified plumber and has degrees in science and adult learning and development. He is also an accomplished author, with an autobiography titled 'Travelling Hopefully' published in 2007.
