David Weller
David Weller (born 11 February 1957) is a retired Jamaican track cyclist. Weller won a bronze medal in Cycling at the 1980 Summer Olympics – Men's 1000m time trial, 1000 metres time trial at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, becoming the first (and still the only) Jamaican to win an Olympic medal in another sport than sport of athletics, athletics. At the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1984, Weller finished sixth as a result of a serious pre-Olympic competition injury received in a crash in Medellin, Colombia two months before his 1984 Olympic competition. Cycling At The Pan American Games
Cycle sport, Cycling has been contested at the Pan American Games since the inaugural games in, 1951, without ever leaving the program. The next edition of the games will take place in 2019 Pan American Games, 2019 in Lima, Peru. 22 medal events are scheduled to be contested, four in BMX, two in mountain biking and four in road cycling and 12 in track cycling. A total of 250 cyclists will qualify to compete at the games. In 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made several changes to its sports program, which were subsequently implemented for these games. Included in this was the addition of BMX freestyle events for the first time to the Pan American Games Pan American Games sports, sports program. Also added was the addition of the Madison (cycling), Madison event in track cycling event for men and women. Jocelyn Lovell
Jocelyn Charles Bjorn Lovell (19 July 1950 – 3 June 2016) was a Canadian cyclist. He won dozens of Canadian national titles for track and road cycling in the 1970s and early 1980s, as well as gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games. He competed at three Olympic Games. His victories, at international competitions, renewed global interest in Canadian cycling. At the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, he won three gold medals in Games record times. Later that year he won a silver medal at the world championships. He continued to race as an amateur into the early 1980s. On 4 August 1983, he was hit by a dump truck while training in Halton Region, just northwest of Toronto. The driver drove into him from behind, breaking Lovell's neck and pelvis. From that moment on, he permanently became quadriplegic. No charges were laid.
