Cyber-Tec Records
C-Tec (or The Cyber-Tec Project) was an EBM band originally formed as a side project in 1995 by Jean-Luc De Meyer (of Front 242), Jonathan Sharp (of New Mind), and Ged Denton (of Crisis n.T.i.). The name was taken from Cyber-Tec Records, who released the band's debut EP. Afterward, Jonathan Sharp left the band (due to problems with Cyber-Tec Records manager Paul M. Green), and Marc Heal (of Cubanate) joined as a full-time member. History C-Tec was conceived as a one-off project, under the name The Cyber-Tec Project, but the members decided to continue producing music under the name. The concept emerged during a dormant period for Front 242 when De Meyer (the original lead singer in 242) and other members took time to work on solo and side projects. In 1995 Synthetic Symphony released the band's debut EP '' Cyber-Tec'', which was later reissued in the United States by Fifth Colvmn Records with an alternate track listing. The EP peaked at #7 on the CMJ RPM Chart in the U.S. ...

Side Project
In popular music, a side project is a project undertaken by one or more people already known for their involvement in another band. It can also be an artist or a band temporarily switching to a different style. Usually these projects emphasize a different aspect of that person's or that band's musical interests that they feel they cannot explore within the boundaries established by their main project. Side projects can later become full-time endeavours, but should not be confused with quitting a band for a solo career or another band. Peter Hartlaub of ''San Francisco Chronicle'' called the solo side project "the biggest longshot bet in mainstream music". ''The New York Times'' described the side project as "a break from the other band members, a chance to toy with different genres and recording methods, a fling with no long-term commitment". There can be aesthetic reasons to pursue side projects, and side projects can have the benefit of protecting indie credibility. Overview O ...

Darker/Cut
''Darker/Cut'' is a compilation album by C-Tec, released on 5 September 2018 by Armalyte Industries. Reception Flux awarded ''Darker/Cut'' a nine out of ten and said "every track has a story and a meaning, and we have no fillers or dull moments" and that the album represents "an important page in the history of electronic music, showing different facets and graced by great artists." Regen said ''Darker'' "has De Meyer's vocals, which are a hallmark of '80s era industrial, as well as Heal's own chainsaw of a voice, and blasts of heavily processed guitars" and "felt more experimental than the next album, ''Cut'', which seems to shift musical styles more, as well as a greater employment of empty space throughout the album." Track listing Personnel Adapted from the ''Darker/Cut'' liner notes. Cyber-Tec Project * Jean-Luc de Meyer – vocals * Ged Denton – keyboards (1.1-1.10), synthesizer (2.1-2.10) * Marc Heal – additional vocals, production, keyboa ...

Industrial Music
Industrial music is a genre of music that draws on harsh, mechanical, transgressive or provocative sounds and themes. AllMusic defines industrial music as the "most abrasive and aggressive fusion of rock and electronic music" that was "initially a blend of avant-garde electronics experiments (tape music, musique concrète, white noise, synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) and punk provocation". The term was coined in the mid-1970s with the founding of Industrial Records by members of Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza. While the genre name originated with Throbbing Gristle's emergence in the United Kingdom, artists and labels vital to the genre also emerged in the United States and other countries. The first industrial artists experimented with noise and aesthetically controversial topics, musically and visually, such as fascism, sexual perversion, and the occult. Prominent industrial musicians include Throbbing Gristle, Monte Cazazza, SPK, Boyd Rice, Cabaret Voltaire, and Z'E ...

Cut (C-Tec Album)
''Cut'' is the second studio album by C-Tec, released on 15 February 2000 by Synthetic Symphony. The album was ranked #25 on the German Alternative Charts (DAC) Top 50 Albums of 2000. On 5 October 2018 the album was reissued as a music download with an additional track titled "Until We Disappear" and written by Marc Heal. Reception Niklas Forsberg of Release Magazine awarded the album six out of ten, describing the music as "almost exclusively overdone in the sense that the aggressiveness became too dominant" and saying "the one thing making me give ''"Cut"'' a grade above average is due to the participation of veteran, almost cult declared artist Jean-Luc De Meyer." Regen said "In many ways, ''Cut'' is an improvement on '' Darker'' – the production is cleaner and has a more modern sheen" and "the palette of sound is more consistent, making it a more cohesive album." The critic went on to claim "it also feels like it plays it, if not safe, at least safer, leaning more toward tr ...

Nitzer Ebb
Nitzer Ebb () are a British EBM group formed in 1982 by Essex school friends Vaughan "Bon" Harris (programming, synthesizers, drums, vocals), Douglas McCarthy (vocals), and David Gooday (drums). History Initial releases (1983–1987) The group released their demo ''Basic Pain Procedure'' in 1983, but it was two years until they met PWL producer Phil Harding, who produced their 1985 debut single "Isn't It Funny How Your Body Works?" and helped them set up their own label, Power Of Voice Communications. The band at the time was inspired by the post-punk scene and specifically acts like "Siouxsie and the Banshees, Killing Joke and Bauhaus who were having a big influence on us, in some ways stylistically but also in the energy that they gave". They released three more singles on their own label, "Warsaw Ghetto" (1985), "Warsaw Ghetto Remixes" (1986) and "Let Your Body Learn" (1986), before signing to Mute Records in 1986. Wax Trax!
Wax Trax! Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago. It began as a record shop in Denver, Colorado, opened by life partners Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher, who sold the store in 1978 and moved to Chicago. In November of that year, they opened a store under the same name in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. During the 1980s and 1990s, the accompanying record label became a presence on the new wave and punk rock scenes in the city, and an outlet for European bands. The label was purchased in 1992 by TVT Records and was discontinued in 2001. In 2014, it was re-established by Julia Nash, daughter of co-founder Jim Nash. Richard Giraldi of the ''Chicago Sun-Times'' wrote, "As important as Chess Records was to blues and soul music, Chicago's Wax Trax imprint was just as significant to the punk rock, new wave and industrial genres." According to critic Greg Kot, the legacy of Wax Trax is trusting the artist. Origins The record store became a record label slowly ...
