Cuxland
Cuxland, in a tourist sense, is the land between the River Weser and the mouth of the Elbe in the district of Cuxhaven on Germany's North Sea coast. Concept The term ''Cuxland'' is an artificial word that has purely been coined for tourist purposes and has no historic significance. It particularly refers to the resorts of the Land Wursten like Dorum, Wremen and Midlum, but also the town of Cuxhaven and resorts of Sahlenburg, Duhnen within its borough Döse, as well as the town of Otterndorf. Tourism The central attractions of Cuxland are Sahlenburg, Duhnen und Döse, which have a well developed tourist infrastructure with restaurants and hotels to cater for various tastes, holiday apartments, an open air pool, leisure facilities and shops. The majority of the holidaymakers come from the German states of Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bremen and Hamburg. Landkreis Cuxhaven
Cuxhaven is a district (''Landkreis'') in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the districts of Stade, Rotenburg, Osterholz and Wesermarsch, the city of Bremerhaven and the North Sea. History The district was established in 1977 by merging the former districts of Land Hadeln and Wesermünde. The town of Cuxhaven lost its status as a district-free town and became the capital of the new district. Geography The district is often nicknamed Cuxland. Otterndorf () is a town on the coast of the North Sea in the federal state of Lower Saxony, Germany, and is part of the collective municipality (''Samtgemeinde'') of Land Hadeln. Cuxhaven
Cuxhaven (; ) is an independent town and seat of the Cuxhaven district, in Lower Saxony, Germany. The town includes the northernmost point of Lower Saxony. It is situated on the shore of the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River. Cuxhaven has a footprint of (east–west) by (north–south). Its town quarters Duhnen, Döse and Sahlenburg are especially popular vacation spots on the North Sea and home to about 52,000 residents. Duhnen
Duhnen (toponym derived from dunes) is a seaside resort (''Seebad'' ) along the North Sea, from the centre of Cuxhaven city, Lower Saxony, Germany. Duhnen is located northwest of Berlin. In 1935 Duhnen was incorporated into the city of Cuxhaven, more than 100 years after the city had been established. Visitors to Hamburg's nearby island of Neuwerk commonly travel through Duhnen. It was at one time a remote fishing and farming village, but today is one of the tourist centres of Cuxland. Tourism Most of the homes in the area are used as cottages and camping sites. Dorum
Dorum is a village and a former municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it has been part of the municipality Wurster Nordseeküste. The Kugelbake (german: Ball Beacon) is a historic day beacon in the city of Cuxhaven, Germany, at the northernmost point of Lower Saxony, where the River Elbe flows into the North Sea. Neuwerk (island)
Neuwerk (; (''Archaic English'': New Werk or Newark) is a tidal island in the Wadden Sea on the German North Sea coast, with a population of 32. Neuwerk is located northwest of Cuxhaven, between the Weser and Elbe estuaries. The distance to the centre of Hamburg is about . Administratively, Neuwerk forms a homonymous quarter of the city and state of Hamburg, Germany, and is part of the borough Hamburg-Mitte. This quarter includes the islands of Scharhörn and Nigehörn, which are bird sanctuaries and closed to the public. Bad Bederkesa
Bad Bederkesa ( Northern Low Saxon: ''Beers'') is a village and a former municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it is part of the town of Geestland. It is situated approximately 20 km northeast of Bremerhaven, and 30 km southeast of Cuxhaven.
