Red Deer is a city in Alberta, Canada, located midway on the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor. Red Deer serves central Alberta, and key industries include health care, retail trade, construction, oil and gas, hospitality, manufacturing and education. It is surrounded by Red Deer County and borders on Lacombe County. The city is located in aspen parkland, a region of rolling hills, alongside the Red Deer River. History The area was inhabited by First Nations including the Blackfoot, Plains Cree and Stoney before the arrival of European fur traders in the late eighteenth century. Nathan Young (curler)
Nathan Young (born November 18, 2002) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Torbay, Newfoundland and Labrador. He currently Skip (curling), skips his own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Young and his team have been competing together from a very young age. It was in 2015 when the rink claimed their first provincial championship in the U16 NLCA Provincials. From that point on it would be a few more years until the quartet won another provincial championship as they went straight up into competing with the U18 age group afterwards. In 2020, Young won his first provincial championship in the U18 category. Alongside Joel Krats who they picked up for the tournament due to Ben Stringer being aged out, they beat Team Liam Quinlan 8-1 in the finals to qualify for the Canadian U18 Curling Championships which was subsequently cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The Cornwall Curling Club is a curling club in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Canada. History The Cornwall Village Council decided in 1979 to build a curling rink in the community, and construction began in 1981. The club officially opened in January 1982. Despite a number of hiccups in its first season, it did not take long for the club to produce a provincial champion. Nancy Coffin, Sharon Cole, Pam Sherren, and Heather Worth won the 1983 Prince Edward Island Junior Women's curling championship. The Mayflower Curling Club, which was founded in 1905, since 1962 has been located at 3000 Monaghan Drive in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality in Halifax. The club is one of the premier curling rinks in Nova Scotia, being home to the teams headed by Colleen Jones, Mark Dacey, Shawn Adams, and Heather Smith-Dacey. The club was host for the curling events during the 2011 Canada Winter Games. The St. John's Curling Club (officially the St. John's Curling Association) is a curling club in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The club plays at the RE/MAX Centre in Central St. John's, on Mayor Ave. It is the largest curling club in the province. History The club was founded on July 8, 1910 when the Terra Nova Curling Club and the Micmac Curling Club were amalgamated. From 1912 to 1941, the club was located at the Newfoundland Curling Rink Ltd. on Forest Road. The club bought a new rink in 1941, but it burned down before the season started.
