Cuei-keer
Cuei-keer (often spelled ''Chuei keer'') is a boma in Kolnyang payam, Bor South County, Jonglei State, South Sudan. It is located about 40 kilometers southeast of Bor, and serves as the county headquarters for Bor South County. Cuei-keer figures in a popular saying as the southernmost boma of Greater Bor, which runs "from Cuei-keer to Cuei-thon." Demographics According to the ''Fifth Population and Housing Census of Sudan'', conducted in April 2008, Cuei-keer boma had a population of 6,804 people, composed of 3,989 male and 2,815 female residents.The census table spells Cuei-keer with a "Ch" as ''Chuei-keer''. In 2008, at the time of the census, Cuei-keer was located in Bor South County. Kolnyang
Kolnyang is a Payam in Bor County, in Jonglei State, South Sudan. It is situated on the east side of the Bahr al Jabal River, to the south of Bor, South Sudan. Kolnyang’s Malual-Chaat was where the liberation revolution that led to South Sudan independence started. Both 105 Battalion commander Alier NhialMangardit and the first fallen hero of revolt Maker Jool were from Kolnyang. Bor District (South Sudan)
Bor is a city and a county in the central region of South Sudan. Jonglei State also has its headquarters in Bor. By 1906, Bor District was part Mongalla Province but later transferred to Upper Nile Province. In 1909–1910, people started resettling along the northern border of the Bor-Duk district, with the aim of separating Nuer and Dinka communities, who had formerly lived together. The Bor-Duk district was later redesignated "Bor County," divided into two in August 2001, and then divided into three counties in 2003: Bor County, Twic East County, and Duk County. Greater Bor refers to the entirety of the former Bor-Duk District, from Cuei-keer in Kolnyang, to the south, to Cuei-thon in the former Duk County, to the north. South Sudan (; din, Paguot Thudän), officially the Republic of South Sudan ( din, Paankɔc Cuëny Thudän), is a landlocked country in East Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia, Sudan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and Kenya. Its population was estimated as 12,778,250 in 2019. The States of South Sudan were created out of the three historic former provinces (and contemporary regions) of Bahr el Ghazal (region of South Sudan), Bahr el Ghazal (northwest), Equatoria (southern), and Greater Upper Nile (northeast). The states are further divided into Counties of Southern Sudan, 79 counties. In October 2015, South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a decree establishing 28 states in place of the 10 that was previously established . The decree established the new states largely along ethnic lines. A number of opposition parties challenged the constitutionality of this decree and the decree was referred to parliament for approval as a constitutional amendment. Payam (administrative Division)
A payam is the second-lowest administrative division, below counties, in South Sudan. Payams are required to have a minimum population of 25000. They are further subdivided into a variable number of '' bomas''. As of 2017, South Sudan has 540 ''payams'' and 2500 ''bomas''. Bor, South Sudan
Bor is a historic city in South Sudan’s central region, being the epicenter of national liberation revolution with multiple landmarks that tells the story. In Malual-Chaat barrack, statues of liberators and destroyed weapons are conserved and exhibited at historical heritage site. It has also served as the headquarters of Jonglei state. The city is situated on the east side of the White Nile (Bahr al Jabal River) at the southern extent of the sudd, South Sudan's vast central wetlands. History Bor is located on the eastern bank of White Nile River, a site where an ivory trading depot was established in the 1860s. Demographics Of South Sudan
South Sudan is home to around 60 indigenous ethnic groups and 80 linguistic partitions among a population of around million. Historically, most ethnic groups were lacking in formal Western political institutions, with land held by the community and elders acting as problem solvers and adjudicators. Today, most ethnic groups still embrace a ''cattle culture'' in which livestock is the main measure of wealth and used for bride wealth. The majority of the ethnic groups in South Sudan are of African heritage who practice either Christianity or syncretisms of Christian and Traditional African religion.
