Cuba Cuba are a Welsh pop-rock band from Cardiff, South Wales, formed in 2007. They are currently signed to Walnut Tree Records and are part of the Escape Artist Management roster along with fellow Welsh band Tiger Please. Critics have often compared their sound to the likes of Bloc Party, Friendly Fires, The Killers, Minus The Bear and Phoenix. They have enjoyed spot plays from BBC Radio 1 DJs Huw Stevens, Jen Long, Ally Mccrae and Bethan Elfyn as well as recording two Radio 1 Introducing live sessions in 2009 and 2011. The band have also enjoyed airtime on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio Wales, XFM, Nation Radio and many more outside of the UK. Tracks from their debut album have also been used on television programmes for the BBC, ITV, ESPN, S4C, WRU TV and CCFC TV. Walnut Tree Records
Walnut Tree Records, was a British independent record label from Watford which specialised in limited run releases from new and upcoming bands. History Walnut Tree Records started life as "The Walnut Tree" in July 2006, a small scale per-zine and CD distribution business. In an interview with AlterThePress.com, founder Tom Beck stated that he "was working on a different genre of music in his full-time job and was falling out of love with music a little" and wanted to find a way to change that. After reading a positive review of The Wonder Years and Bangarang split EP on Punktastic.com Beck contacted The Wonder Years directly to ask if he could import their CD and sell it to potential fans in the UK. This was followed by releases from the likes of Valencia and Four Year Strong, all of which were without a distribution deal in the UK at the time. The Airborne Toxic Event is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2006. It consists of Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Adrian Rodriguez (electric bass, backing vocals), Daren Taylor (drums), and Miriam "Mimi" Peschet (backing vocals, violin). It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the ''Sounds'' newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, ''Kerrang!'' was initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts. Funeral Party is an American alternative rock band, formed in 2005. The band's line-up consists of vocalist Chad Elliott, guitarist James Lawrence Torres, bassist Kimo Kauhola, and multi instrumentalist Tim Madrid. History The original members formed the band one night in a park in their hometown of Whittier, California, a suburb just outside Los Angeles, California, choosing to name themselves after The Cure song of the same name. The Joy Formidable is a Welsh alternative rock band, formed in 2007 in Mold, Flintshire, and currently based in London, England. The band consists of Rhiannon "Ritzy" Bryan (lead vocals, guitar), Rhydian Dafydd ( bass, vocals) and Matthew James Thomas (drums, percussion). Tiger Please is a Welsh indie / alternative rock five-piece band from Cardiff, Wales. The band formed in August 2008. The band's influences are U2, Sigur Rós, Kings of Leon, John Mayer and Counting Crows. They signed with Walnut Tree Records in 2009 and released their debut EP ''They Don't Change Under Moonlight''.
