Crystal Voyager
''Crystal Voyager'' is a 1973 Australian surf film directed by David Elfick. It was filmed by Albert Falzon, written and narrated by surfer, photographer and filmmaker George Greenough who had previously made the 1970 surfing film '' The Innermost Limits of Pure Fun''.The soundtrack was written and produced and performed by G. Wayne Thomas and the 'Crystal Voyager Band". The film is structured as a loose biography of Greenough and was shot largely in California. It documents Greenough's search for uncrowded waves, which led to the construction of his 37-foot ocean-going yacht. It also feature Greenough's surfing friends, Californian Richie West and Australian world champion Nat Young. ''Crystal Voyager'' premiered at the Sydney Opera House on 5 December 1973 and had a successful three-week run there before opening in other states. David Elfick
David Elfick (born 20 December 1944) is an Australian film and television writer, director, producer and occasional actor. He is known for his association with writer-director Phillip Noyce, with whom he has collaborated on films including ''Newsfront'' (1978) and ''Rabbit-Proof Fence'' (2002). Career Elfick began his film career as the producer of the 1971 surf movie ''Morning of the Earth'', directed by Alby Falzon. In 1973 Elfick collaborated with surfer, writer and cinematographer George Greenough as producer-director of ''Crystal Voyager''. This became one of the most successful Australian surf movies ever made, grossing over A$100,000 on its first release, followed by six-month run in London, where it ran on a double bill with René Laloux's ''Fantastic Planet'' and grossed over UK£100,000. Echoes (Pink Floyd Song)
"Echoes" is a song by the rock band Pink Floyd, and the sixth and last track on their 1971 album ''Meddle''. It is 23 and a half minutes long and takes up the entire second side of the original LP. The track evolved from a variety of different musical themes and ideas, including instrumental passages and studio effects, resulting in the side-long piece. The music was written by the group, while Roger Waters' lyrics addressed themes of human communication and empathy, which he returned to in later work. The song was performed live regularly by Pink Floyd from 1971 to 1975, including a performance in the film ''Live at Pompeii'' (1972). It was used for the opening shows on the 1987 A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour but subsequently dropped. ''Fantastic Planet'' (french: La Planète sauvage; cs, Divoká planeta, lit. "The Wild Planet") is a 1973 experimental adult animated science fiction film, directed by René Laloux and written by Laloux and Roland Topor, the latter of whom also completed the film's production design. The film was animated at Jiří Trnka Studio in Prague. The film was an international co-production between companies from France and Czechoslovakia. The allegorical story, about humans living on a strange planet dominated by giant humanoid aliens who consider them animals, is based on the 1957 novel ''Oms en série'' by French writer Stefan Wul. A working title while in development was ''Sur la planète Ygam'' (''On the Planet Ygam''), which is where most of the story takes place; the actual title (''The Fantastic/Savage Planet'') is the name of Ygam's moon. René Laloux
René Laloux (; July 1929 – 14 March 2004) was a French animator, screenwriter and film director. Biography He was born in Paris in 1929 and went to art school to study painting. After some time working in advertising, he got a job in a psychiatric institution where he began experimenting in animation with the interns. It is at the psychiatric institution that he made the 1960 film ''Monkey's Teeth'' ('' Les Dents du Singe''), in collaboration with Paul Grimault's studio, and using a script written by the Cour Cheverny's interns. Another important collaborator of his was Roland Topor with whom Laloux made ''Dead Time'' ('' Les Temps Morts'', 1964), ''The Snails'' ('' Les Escargots'', 1965) and his most famous work, the feature length ''Fantastic Planet'' ('' La Planète Sauvage'', 1973). George Greenough
George Hamilton Perkins Greenough (born November 6, 1941) is an influential surfer known during the 1960s and 1970s for his designs and work in film, board design, fin characteristics, and other creations for the aquatic medium. Greenough's and McTavish's contributions to developing the shortboards resulted in a wave of new advancements in surfing technology and shapes used to design boards.
