The Tear Garden
The Tear Garden is a psychedelic/experimental/electronic band, formed by Edward Ka-Spel of The Legendary Pink Dots and cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy in 1985 after Key served as a sound engineer on tour in Canada for Ka-Spel. An EP, ''The Tear Garden'', was released that same year. The pair have since released a number of records with the assistance of various guest musicians. Their most recent release, '' The Brown Acid Caveat'', was released in July 2017. History The Tear Garden released the album ''Tired Eyes Slowly Burning'' in 1987. Nettwerk Music Group is the umbrella company for Nettwerk Records, Nettwerk Management, and Nettwerk One Publishing. Established in 1984, the Vancouver-based company was created by Nettwerk principals Terry McBride and Mark Jowett as a record label to distribute recordings by the band Moev, but the label expanded in Canada and internationally. ''To Be an Angel Blind, the Crippled Soul Divide'' is the third album by The Tear Garden, released four years after '' The Last Man to Fly''. This is the first Tear Garden album without Dwayne Goettel, with his death (and the end of Skinny Puppy) a year previously. The album tends to carry a less electronic and more somber tone to it overall as cEvin Key and others changed instrumental priorities following Goettel's death and their respective moods reflecting that death. Another member of The Legendary Pink Dots, Niels Van Hoornblower, appears on this album. According to Edward Ka-Spel, the album was intended to be called ''To Be an Angel Blind, the Cripple Soul Divide'', but all copies are erroneously titled as "Crippled". ''The Brown Acid Caveat'' is the seventh full-length album by the experimental rock group The Tear Garden released on July 7, 2017 after starting a successful PledgeMusic campaign in August 2016. The campaign, which achieved 117% of its financial goal, allowed for the inclusion of a number of guest musicians including Dre Robinson and former Legendary Pink Dots members Ryan Moore, Martijn De Kleer, and Patrick Q. Wright. The album title refers to an announcement given to spectators of the first Woodstock Festival in 1969 to avoid "brown acid" -- a type of LSD reportedly associated with bad trips. Kevin William Crompton (born February 13, 1961), known professionally as cEvin Key, is a Canadian musician, songwriter, producer, and composer. He is best known as a member of the industrial music group Skinny Puppy, which he co-founded in 1982 with singer Nivek Ogre. Initially a side project while he was with the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy quickly became his primary musical outlet after landing a record deal with Nettwerk Records in 1984. When Skinny Puppy disbanded in 1995 following the death of keyboardist Dwayne Goettel, Key's main project became the electronic noise group Download, whose first album, '' Furnace'', was released that same year. The Legendary Pink Dots
The Legendary Pink Dots (LPD) are an Anglo-Dutch experimental rock band formed in London in August 1980. In 1984, the band moved to Amsterdam, playing with rotating musicians and having, as core members, singer/songwriter/keyboardist Edward Ka-Spel and keyboardist Phil Knight. In 2022, founding member and synthesist Philip Knight retired from touring, and Randall Frazier (Orbit Service, A Star Too Far) joined the band on synths, samples and electronics.
