Crystal Kelly Cup
The Crystal Kelly Cup or Crystal Kelly Tournament (sometimes: ''Chrystal Kelly'') was a prestigious, generously funded carom billiards invitational tournament in the discipline of three-cushion, which has been held at different venues from 1994 to 2011, a total of 18 times, mostly in Monte Carlo and Nice. History The tournament was launched in 1994 by the businessman and software-founder of Volmac (since 1992 it belongs to the Cap Gemini Group), Joop van Oosterom, who is also a billiards and chess enthusiast. The tournament was named after his daughter Crystal Kelly van Oosterom, as well as for the Dutch ''Eredivisie'' club of "Crystal Kelly," which was also very successful. In 1992 Joop already dedicated Melody Amber, a blindfold and correspondence chess tournament, to his other daughter. In 2010, Joop announced that he will give up the sponsorship the following year. Carom Billiards
Carom billiards, sometimes called carambole billiards, is the overarching title of a family of cue sports generally played on cloth-covered, billiard tables. In its simplest form, the object of the game is to score or "counts" by ' one's own off both the opponent's cue ball and the on a single shot. The invention as well as the exact date of origin of carom billiards is somewhat obscure but is thought to be traceable to 18th-century France. There is a large array of carom billiards disciplines. Semih Saygıner (born on November 12, 1964), nicknamed Mr. Magic or The Turkish Prince, is a Turkish people, Turkish world champion professional carom billiards player specialized in three-cushion billiards, three-cushion event. Family life Semih Saygıner was born to a tailor father Faruk and a homemaker mother Süreyya in Adapazarı, Turkey on November 12, 1964. He is the fifth of six siblings. His parents passed away due to a traffic accident in 1978 when he was 14 years old, afterwards, Saygıner started playing billiards. He had a good performance in high school but left due to depression over the loss of his mother and father. Saygıner opened up a billiards hall, and taught the cue sport. In 1995, he married Aygen Berk, a student of his, the women's billiards champion of Turkey and co-founder of the Turkish Billiards Federation. Their marriage ended a few years later. Dion Nelin (born 28 August 1976) is a Danish carom billiards player. He won twice at the Three-Cushion World Cup from 1996 to 1997. Nelin got into second place three times and third place five times at the Three-Cushion World Cup from 1995 to 2000.
