The Cross of Merit () is a Polish civil state decoration established on 23 June 1923, to recognize services to the state. History At the time of its establishment in 1923, the Cross of Merit was the highest civilian award in Poland. It was awarded to citizens who went beyond the call of duty in their work for the country and society as a whole. May be awarded twice in each grade to the same person. The president of Poland ( pl, Prezydent RP), officially the president of the Republic of Poland ( pl, Prezydent Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej), is the head of state of Poland. Their rights and obligations are determined in the Constitution of Poland. The president heads the executive branch. Fabian Drzyzga (born 3 January 1990) is a Polish professional volleyball player who plays as a setter for Asseco Resovia. He was a participant in the Olympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020) and is a two–time World Champion (2014, 2018). Małgorzata Kalinowska-Iszkowska (born 29 July 1946) is a Polish computer scientist, educator, and activist. She was awarded the Polish Gold Cross of Merit for her work in information technology (IT). She was a member of the Polish Congress of Women. Education and career Kalinowska-Iszkowska graduated from in Warsaw in 1964. In 1970, she graduated from Warsaw University of Technology with specializations in automation and mathematical machines. A decade later, she obtained her doctorate in technical sciences. Tomasz Miśkiewicz (born 9 July 1977) is the Polish mufti of the ''Muzułmański Związek Religijny'' (Muslim Religious Union). Biography Tomasz was born in Białystok in 1977 but was raised in Suchowola. From 1991 to 1993, Tomasz studied Arabic in Syria and Sudan. He continued his education further from 1993 to 2000 studying Arabic, Islamic theology, and Islamic Law at the Islamic University of Medina. In 2000 Tomasz was appointed as the imam of the Muslim Religious Union (MRU) of Białystok and then elected as a chairman for the Board of Imams of the MRU of Poland. Geertjan Lassche (born in Zwolle, 17 August 1976) is a Dutch reporter and documentary film maker. Career He started his career in journalism in 1996, at the ''Zwolse Courant'', a local newspaper in Zwolle. At the same time, he worked on a freelance base, among other things for the local stations RTV Oost, Omroep Gelderland, and Radio 1. Izabella Zielińska
Izabella Jadwiga Zielińska (née Ostaszewska; 10 December 1910 – 20 November 2017) was a Polish pianist and pedagogue with one of the longest artistic biographies in Poland, starting back in 1935. Life Izabella Jadwiga Ostaszewska was born in Klimkówka, Podkarpackie Voivodeship and attended primary school in Sanok and at the Lyceum of the Ursuline Convent in Lviv, graduating in 1929. She took piano lessons from Klaudia Rylska. In 1930 she went to Belgium to continue her education in the Ursulines Institute at Wavre-Notre-Dame, where she studied French and music.
