Cross That Bridge (song)
"Cross That Bridge" is a song by British pop-rock band the Ward Brothers, which was released in 1986 as the second single from their debut studio album '' Madness of It All''. It was written by Graham Ward, and produced by Don Was and Phil Brown. "Cross That Bridge" reached No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart and remained in the Top 100 for ten weeks. It was the band's only UK Top 40 hit. The song's music video was directed by Meiert Avis. It was filmed both inside and outside the Thames Barrier, with other segments filmed on a sound stage. Critical reception On its release, Danny Van Emden of ''Music Week'' noted the song's "warm, insistent soul hook" which he considered to be "reminiscent of Was (Not Was)". John Lee of the '' Huddersfield Daily Examiner'' praised it as a "smart toe-tapper" which he felt "given the push, could pilot the Ward Brothers ship into big-buck harbour". The Ward Brothers were a British pop-rock band, who scored a top 40 hit in the UK with their 1986 single "Cross That Bridge (song), Cross That Bridge". History The Ward Brothers formed in Barnsley, England in 1986, with vocalist and drummer Dave Ward, keyboardist Derek Ward and guitarist Graham Ward. The band signed to Siren Records in 1986 and released four singles and an album. Their debut single "Easy Prey" was not a commercial success, but the follow-up, "Cross That Bridge (song), Cross That Bridge", broke the band into the Top 40 when it reached at No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart in early 1987. The follow-up, "Why Do You Run?", reached No. 81 in the UK, and a final single, "I Trusted You", failed to chart. Robin Denselow is a British writer, journalist, and broadcaster. Education Denselow was educated at Leighton Park School, a boys' Quaker boarding independent school (now co-educational) in Reading, Berkshire, followed by New College, Oxford, where he studied English. Life and career After a student-trip to India with COMEX, the Commonwealth Expedition in 1965, Denselow first joined the BBC African Service as a producer and reporter working on current affairs programmes. Michael John Gilmour Howlett (born 27 April 1950) is a record producer and teacher based in the United Kingdom and Australia. Career In the late 1960s, Howlett was the bassist in Sydney pop band the Affair, which included vocalist Kerrie Biddell. The group travelled to England after winning a prize in the Hoadley's Battle of the Sounds band competition. Howlett settled in London and in 1973 joined renowned British progressive rock group Gong, which had been founded by an Australian expatriate, Daevid Allen. He remained with Gong until 1977, recording several albums with them and co-writing much of their material later in this period with drummer Pierre Moerlen.
