Whistler Olympic Park
The Whistler Olympic Park is the location of the Nordic events facilities for the 2010 Winter Olympics and is located in the Madeley Creek basin in the Callaghan Valley, west of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. The facility hosted the biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, and ski jumping. After the Olympics will remain a public facility, complementing the extensive wilderness trails and alpine routes already in use. Three temporary stadiums were built with a capacity for 12,000 spectators each (6,000 for the Paralympics). The location is approximately 8 km from the junction of its access road with Highway 99 and 14 km from the Whistler Olympic Village. The two year construction project saw, of cross country and biathlon trails, two ski jumps (HS 106 and HS 140 metre), and another 20 to 25 km of recreational trails built. Emil Jönsson
Emil Jönsson Haag (born 15 August 1985) is a Swedish retired cross-country skier who competed between 2004 and 2018. Career At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished seventh in the individual sprint event. He has twelve World Cup victories, all in sprint events, since 2008. He won the FIS Cross-Country Sprint World Cup in 2009–10 and 2010–11. He won bronze in the sprint at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In March 2018, his retirement from cross-country skiing following the 2017–2018 season was announced. Following his retirement he became sighted guide for visually impaired para athlete Zebastian Modin. They participated together at the 2022 Winter Paralympics and won a bronze medal in men's 20 km classical. Alexey Yurevich Poltoranin ( kk, Алексей Юрьевич Полтаранин, born April 29, 1987) is a Kazakh cross-country skier who has competed at the international senior level since 2004. He has three World Cup wins, one in 2010 and two in 2013. In the 2013 World Championship in Val di Fiemme he won two bronze medals. Most of his best results are in the classic technique. Peeter Kümmel (born April 11, 1982 in Tartu) is an Estonian cross-country skier who has competed since 2001. Nikolay Sergeyevich Chebotko (russian: Николай Сергеевич Чеботько, 25 October 1982 – 24 January 2021) was a Kazakhstani cross-country skier who competed from 2000, until his death. His best individual World Cup finish was fourth in a sprint event in Finland in 2013. Chebotko also competed in four Winter Olympics, earning his best finish of fifth in the team sprint event at Vancouver in 2010. Øystein "Pølsa" Pettersen (born 19 January 1983 in Linderud) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier, television personality and podcast host who competed professionally from 2002 to 2019. He has six World Cup podiums, his best finish being second in individual sprint events. Together with Petter Northug he won gold medal in the team sprint event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. In the Individual Sprint he was one of three Norwegians to reach the six-man final. Johan Kjølstad (born 9 March 1983) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who has competed since 2002. Born in Levanger, he represents the sports club Skogn IL. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he earned his best finish of seventh in the individual sprint event at Turin in 2006.
