Croatia In The Eurovision Song Contest 1997
Croatia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 by E.N.I. with the song "Probudi me". The quartet were the winners of Dora 1997, which selected the fifth Croatian entry for the contest. Background Croatia first entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, having previously competed as a part of Yugoslavia from 1961 to 1991. SR Croatia was the most successful republic of Yugoslavia at Eurovision, with 11 of the 27 entries that won the Yugoslavian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest being Croatian. Croatia produced over 11 entries in total for Yugoslavia, giving some of the country's best placings in the Contest. Davor Tolja
Denis & Denis was a Croatian and Yugoslav synth-pop group formed in Rijeka in 1982. They were one of the most popular acts of the Yugoslav synth-pop scene. Formed as a duo consisting of keyboardist and vocalist Davor Tolja and vocalist Marina Perazić, Denis & Denis immediately gained attention of the Yugoslav audience with their first recordings broadcast on Yugoslav radio stations. Đorđe Novković (; 2 September 1943 – 6 May 2007) was a Croatian songwriter who was known for his work in Yugoslavia and Croatia. Novković composed more than 2,500 songs and sold approximately 20 million records. He is also known as the father of popular Croatian singer Boris Novković. Biography Novković was born to a Serb father Vukašin and a Croat mother Danica during World War II in the village of Vladimirci on the German-occupied territory of what only a few years earlier used to be Kingdom of Yugoslavia's Drina Banovina. Petar Grašo (born 19 March 1976) is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter. Born in Split to basketball player Zoran Grašo, he rose to prominence when Oliver Dragojević performed one of his first songs "Boginja" on the Dora contest in 1995. Azra Kolaković (1 January 1977 – 2 October 2017), known by her stage name Donna Ares, was a Bosnian pop and pop-folk singer. Her final studio album '' Povratka nema'' was released in 2011. She died at age 40 following a three-year long battle with uterine cancer. Early life Azra Kolaković was born in the northwestern Bosnian city of Bihać to Bosnian Muslim parents Osman and Ajka. Bruno Kovačić is a Croatian musician and composer. Biography His career began in the 1980s when he formed the band called D-Day. Tonči Huljić (; born 29 October 1961) is a Croatian musician, songwriter and music producer. He is best known as the founding member, songwriter and producer of one the most famous Croatian pop bands, Magazin. During his career spanning more than five decades, Huljić has produced numerous hit singles, both for the group and for numerous solo artists which emerged from his record label.
