Croatia At The 2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival
Croatia competed at the 2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival from 24 to 30 July 2023 in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia with 76 participants (44 male, 32 female) in 8 sports (Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Basketball, Swimming and Handball). In collective sports, basketball players and female and male handball players participated. Flagbearers Croatian flagbearers at the opening ceremony were athlete Jana Koščak and handball player Petar Šprem. Medals Croatian won 9 medals: 5 gold and 4 silver ones, with this EYOF being most successful for Croatia to date. 2023 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival
The 2023 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival will be the 17th edition of the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, and will be held in Maribor, Slovenia, between 23 and 29 July 2023. The festival was originally supposed to take place in Koper. However, Maribor was confirmed as the new host city in June 2021. 2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival
The 2022 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival was held in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, between 24 and 30 July 2022. Host selection Košice was originally to be host city but withdrew from the hosting in April 2019 due to financial concerns. Banská Bystrica was chosen as the new host city in May 2019. Originally scheduled to run from 24 July to 1 August 2021, on 7 May 2020 it was announced that the games will be moved to 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jana Koščak
Jana Koščak (born 19 May 2006) is a Croatian multi-event track and field athlete. In 2022 she became the European under-18 champion in Pentathlon and Heptathlon. She is the Croatian senior national record holder in both events. Career From Varaždin, Koščak secured five personal bests in winning the 2022 European Athletics U18 Championships Heptathlon event, held in Jerusalem in July 2022. Her points tally placed her fifth on the European U18 all-time list. In January 2023 Koscak cleared 1.90m in the high jump to break the Croatian indoor U18 record held previously by Blanka Vlašić. A month later in Tallinn at the Tallinn Indoor Meeting, Koscak set a new European youth best in the pentathlon, scoring 4232. Later that month in Zagreb, Koscak scored 4585 points for the girls pentathlon which was reported as an under-18 world record score.
