Cristina García (journalist)
Cristina García (born July 4, 1958) is a Cuban-born American journalist and novelist. Her first novel ''Dreaming in Cuban'' (1992) was a finalist for the National Book Award. She has since published her novels '' The Agüero Sisters'' (1997) and '' Monkey Hunting'' (2003), and has edited books of Cuban and other Latin American literature. '' A Handbook to Luck'' (2007) follows three children from Cuba, over twenty-six years through sacrifices and forced exiles. In 2009, Garcia was hired as the visiting affiliate professor and Black Mountain Institute teaching fellow in creative writing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She also taught at University of Texas-Austin, Texas Tech University, and Texas State University-San Marcos, where she is the 2012–2014 University Chair in Creative Writing. Cristina Garcia (politician)
Cristina Garcia (born August 22, 1977) is an American educator and politician who served in the California State Assembly. She is a Democrat who represented the 58th Assembly District, which encompassed parts of southeastern Los Angeles County, including her home city of Bell Gardens. She had served in the Assembly since 2012. While Garcia had been involved in politics in high school, where she organized opposition to Proposition 187, after college she became a teacher. In the late 2000s, tired of what seemed to her to be inaction by the Bell Gardens city council, she began attending its meetings and questioning its members. A bid to get elected to council herself failed, but a friend who lived in neighboring Bell asked her if she could attend that city's council meetings and help her figure out why its property taxes were so high. Cristina García Rodero
Cristina García Rodero (born 14 October 1949) is a Spanish Photography, photographer and member of Magnum Photos and Agence Vu photo agencies. Life and work Rodero was born in Puertollano, Spain, in 1949, and studied painting at Complutense University of Madrid. She has worked as a teacher. Rodero photographs the persistence of rural traditions in modern times, such as religious rites and festivals in Spain. In Spain she is among the most celebrated documentary photographers. Rodero joined Magnum Photos in 2005 and became a full member in 2009. In an Extraordinary Plenary Session held by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando on Monday, February 18, 2013, she was elected as a Full Academician for the Section of New Image Arts, occupying the vacant Medal held by Luis García Berlanga.
