Cristeen Smith
Cristeen Smith (born 5 November 1956) is a paralympic athlete from New Zealand competing mainly in category T52 track events and F53 Field events. Cristeen is a three time Paralympic medalist, having competed at two paralympics. Her first games came in Barcelona in 1992 Summer Paralympics where she competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m winning the 100m in the T52 class and setting a new World Record. Para Athletics
Para-athletics is the sport of athletics practised by people with a disability as a parasport. The athletics events within the parasport are mostly the same as those available to able-bodied people, with two major exceptions in wheelchair racing and the club throw, which are specific to the division. The sport is known by various names, including disability athletics, disabled track and field and Paralympic athletics. Top-level competitors may be called elite athletes with disability. Competitors are typically organised into three broad categories: deaf sports, athletes with a physical disability, and athletes with an intellectual disability.
