Cripple Creek (film)
''Cripple Creek'' is a 1952 American Western film directed by Ray Nazarro and starring George Montgomery. Plot It's 1893 and gold is being smuggled out of the country. Instead of stealing gold bars, the outlaws are stealing high-grade ore, having it smelted, and then having it plated to look like lead. The Government sends agents Bret ( George Montgomery) and Larry (Jerome Courtland) who arrive in Cripple Creek posing as Texas gunfighters. While their partner, Strap ( Richard Egan) works on the inside as an informant, Bret finds the smelting operation and Larry learns of the payoff. The crooked town Marshal is suspicious of the two men. The reply to his inquiry to Texas exposes them, putting their lives in danger. Ray Nazarro ''(aka'' "Ray" and "Nat;" ''né'' Raymond Alfred Nazarro; September 25, 1902 – September 8, 1986) was an American film and television director, producer, and screenwriter. Career Born in Boston, Nazarro entered the movie business during the silent era. He initially worked in two-reelers. Nazarro was one of Hollywood's busiest directors, directing as many as 13 pictures in one year. He made budget westerns almost exclusively. George Cleveland
George Alan Cleveland (September 17, 1885 – July 15, 1957) was a Canadian film actor. He appeared in more than 180 films between 1930 and 1954. Career Cleveland was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. His first appearance on the stage was in ''The Octaroon'' as a teenager. Cleveland was active as a Vaudevillian before moving to Hollywood in 1936 where he worked in films via acting, producing and directing. Although Cleveland played in more than 150 films during his 58-year career in show business, he acknowledged that he was most well-known for his role as George "Gramps" Miller in the early years of the long running American television series ''Lassie''.
