__NOTOC__ Creswell is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located in the territory's east adjoining the border with the state of Queensland about south-east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality consists of the following land (from west to east, then north to south): #Eva Springs pastoral lease, #Anthony Lagoon pastoral lease, # Mallapunyah Springs and Walhallow pastoral leases, # Cresswell Downs pastoral lease and, #Benmara pastoral lease. As of 2020, it has an area of . The locality's boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. Its name is derived from the Creswell pastoral lease and ultimately from Cresswell Creek named by the explorer, Ernest Favenc. The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Lingiari includes all of the Northern Territory's remote Indigenous communities, most of whom vote when visited by mobile polling teams during the election campaign. The current MP is Marion Scrymgour, a member of the Australian Labor Party. Scrymgour herself is Indigenous and inherited Tiwi identity from her mother. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Norfolk Island joined the census for the first time in 2016, adding 1,748 to the population. The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website. Results from the 2016 census were available to the public on 11 April 2017, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics website, two months earlier than for any previous census. Ernest Favenc
Ernest Favenc (21 October 1845 – 14 November 1908) was an explorer of Australia, a journalist, author of verse, novels and short stories, and an historian. Personal life Favenc was born in Walworth, Surrey, England. Of Huguenot descent, he was the son of Abraham George Favenc, merchant, and his wife Emma, née Jones. He was educated at the Werdersches Gymnasium, Berlin and at Temple College, Cowley, Oxfordshire. Favenc arrived in New South Wales in 1864, and, after being in the colony for about a year, in a commercial position, he afterwards worked in the pastoral industry in the frontier squatting districts of Queensland. Favenc married Elizabeth Jones Matthews on 15 November 1880 in Sydney. Favenc died at his Darlinghurst home in Sydney on 14 November 1908, and was survived by Elizabeth Jane and their daughter. Cresswell Downs Station, often referred to as Cresswell Downs, is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is situated about east of Elliott and south of Borroloola. Cresswell Downs is surrounded by other properties including Mallapunyah to the north west, Walhallow to the west, Kiana to the north, Calvert Hills Station to the north east, Benmarra to the west, Brunette Downs to the south and Anthony Lagoon to the south west. Several watercourses pass through the property, including Cresswell Creek, Coanjula Creek and Puzzle Creek. The traditional owners of the area are the Wambaia. The first European to visit the area was the explorer Frank Hann in 1881. The station was established later the same year and was named after William Rooke Creswell; the name was retained despite the error in spelling. Anthony Lagoon is a cattle station on the Barkly Tableland in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is situated approximately east of Elliott and south of Borroloola. Eva Downs is run as an outstation of Anthony Lagoon and employs a separate manager, but is part of the same operation. Description The station when combined with neighbouring Eva Downs occupies an area of and has a carrying capacity of approximately 60,000 head of Brahman cattle. Mallapunyah
Mallapunyah Springs Station, often referred to as Mallapunyah, is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is situated about south east of Borroloola and south east of Darwin. Mallapunyah Creek runs through the property. Mallapunyah shares a boundary with Walhallow Station to the south, Kiana and McArthur River Stations to the east and the Mambalya Rrumburriya Wuyaliya Aboriginal Land Trust property to the north and west. Both the Tablelands Highway and the Borroloola Stock route bisect the property. The area was settled in the mid-1920s by the George and Elizabeth Darcy. When they initially settled the property George worked away to earn money for the family while Elizabeth built the homestead and the furniture and taught the twelve children. __NOTOC__ Pamayu is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south-east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality’s name which is pronounced as "Bama-yu" is derived from the local Djingli aboriginal people’s name for the site where the Powell Creek Telegraph Station was located. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007 and fully surrounds the localities of Elliott and Newcastle Waters. Its boundary with the locality of Elliott was amended on 20 January 2016. The Stuart Highway and the Adelaide-Darwin Railway both pass from south to north on the western side of the locality. Pamayu includes the following places that have been listed on the Northern Territory Heritage Register – the Powell Creek Telegraph Station and the Ucharonidge Station No. 1 Bore & Windmill.
