Crescent Moon (The Avengers)
"Crescent Moon" is the fifth episode of the first series of the 1960s British spy-fi television series ''The Avengers'', starring Ian Hendry, Patrick Macnee and Ingrid Hafner, and guest starring Patience Collier, Roger Delgado, Harold Kasket, and Bandana Das Gupta. It was performed and aired live on ABC on 4 February 1961, and is one of many Season 1 episodes that as of 2012 is considered lost. The episode was directed by John Knight, and written by Geoffrey Bellman and John Whitney. Plot A foreign general, General Mendoza, fakes his own death in the belief his wife and associate are plotting to kill him and inherit his fortune. He leaves his country and allows his daughter to be kidnapped, believing that it is in her best interest to be kept out of harm's way. However, it turns out that his daughter has been genuinely kidnapped and must be rescued by Steed while the General is in London recovering under Dr. Keel. The Avengers (TV Series)
''The Avengers'' is a British Spy fiction, espionage television series, created in 1961, that ran for 161 episodes until 1969. It initially focused on David Keel (Ian Hendry), aided by John Steed (Patrick Macnee). Hendry left after the first series; Steed then became the main character, partnered with a succession of assistants. His most famous assistants were intelligent, stylish and assertive women: Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman), Emma Peel (Diana Rigg), and Tara King (Linda Thorson). Dresses and suits for the series were made by Pierre Cardin. The series ran from 1961 until 1969, screening as one-hour episodes for its entire run. Ian Hendry
Ian Mackendrick Hendry (13 January 1931 – 24 December 1984) was a British actor. He worked on several British TV series of the 1960s and 1970s, including the lead in the first series of '' The Avengers'' and '' The Lotus Eaters'', and played roles in the films '' The Hill'' (1965), '' Repulsion'' (1965), ''Get Carter'' (1971), and ''Theatre of Blood'' (1973). Early years Hendry was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, on 13 January 1931. His mother, Enid (née Rushton), was born in Durham in 1906, and father, George Rushton, was an artist and Head of the Ipswich Art School (1906 – 1929). Eric Norman Thompson (9 November 1929 – 30 November 1982) was an English actor, scriptwriter and stage director. He is best remembered for creating and performing the English narration for ''The Magic Roundabout'', which he adapted from the original French ''Le Manège enchanté''. George H. Roderick (February 22, 1900 – February 19, 1982) was an official in the United States Department of the Army during the Eisenhower Administration. Nicholas Amer, born Thomas Harold Amer (29 September 1923 – 17 November 2019), was an English stage, film and television actor known for his performances in William Shakespeare's plays. Amer made his professional debut in 1948 playing the part of Ferdinand in '' The Tempest''. In his long career, Amer played more than 27 different Shakespearean roles and toured to 31 different countries. Amer was born in Tranmere, Birkenhead, Cheshire. Patrick Macnee
Daniel Patrick Macnee (6 February 1922 – 25 June 2015) was a British film and television actor. After serving in the Royal Navy during World War II, he began his acting career in Canada.
