Creepiness is the state of being creepy, or causing an unpleasant feeling of fear or unease. A person who exhibits creepy behaviour is called a creep. Certain traits or hobbies may make people seem creepy to others. The internet has been described as increasingly creepy. Adam Kotsko has compared the modern conception of creepiness to the Freudian concept of . The term has also been used to describe paranormal or supernatural phenomena. History and studies In the abstract the feeling of "creepiness" is subjective: for example some dolls have been described as creepy. The adjective "creepy", referring to a feeling of creeping in the flesh, was first used in 1831, but it was Charles Dickens who coined and popularized the term "the creeps" in his 1849 novel David Copperfield. Creepy (band)
Creepy is a San Francisco, California-based indie rock/pop punk band that formed in 2002. The Triple EP and Strong Lies Kill Highs In 2007, the group released a full-length CD entitled "The Triple EP" which was a collection of music from three previously unreleased EP length CDs. The Triple EP received positive reviews by many critics of independent music because of its illustration of progress as the band evolved their unique sound over the 2003-2007 period. The Triple EP also received radio play on several college and independent music radio showcases. The band released their fourth EP in 2009 entitled, ''Strong Lies Kill Highs''. It was announced in January 2009 in a blog on Creepy's Myspace that they plan to tour in March and April in support of their newly released EP. is a 2016 Japanese thriller film directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, starring Hidetoshi Nishijima (actor), Hidetoshi Nishijima, Yūko Takeuchi, Teruyuki Kagawa, Haruna Kawaguchi, and Masahiro Higashide. Based on the 2012 novel by Yutaka Maekawa, it is about a married couple uncovering the secrets of their new, mysterious neighbor. The film had its world premiere at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival on 13 February 2016. It was released in Japan on 18 June 2016. Plot Having resigned as a profiler following an injury, Koichi Takakura and his wife Yasuko move to a place closer to his new job as a university lecturer in criminal psychology. ''Creepy'' was an American horror (genre), horror-comics magazine launched by Warren Publishing in 1964. Like ''Mad (magazine), Mad'', it was a black-and-white newsstand publication in a magazine format and did not carry the seal of the Comics Code Authority. An anthology magazine, it initially was published quarterly but later went bimonthly. Each issue's stories were introduced by the host character, Uncle Creepy. Its sister publications were ''Eerie'' and ''Vampirella''. Launch Illustrator and editor Russ Jones, the founding editor of ''Creepy'' in 1964, said he approached ''Famous Monsters of Filmland'' magazine publisher James Warren (publisher), Jim Warren with the idea of horror comics similar to the 1950s' EC Comics comic books. Frank Angelo Joseph "Creepy" Crespi (February 16, 1918 – March 1, 1990) was a Major League Baseball player who played infielder from - for the St. Louis Cardinals. He made his major league debut on 14 September 1938 playing second base for the Cardinals. In 1951, longtime Cardinals star shortstop Marty Marion praised Crespi as the best defensive second baseman he'd ever played with. "For one year—1941—Crespi was the best second baseman I ever saw. Alvin Karpis
Alvin Francis Karpis (born Albin Francis Karpavičius; August 10, 1907 – August 26, 1979), a Depression-era gangster nicknamed "Creepy" for his sinister smile and called "Ray" by his gang members, was a Canadian-born (naturalized American) criminal of Lithuanian descent known for being a leader of the Barker–Karpis gang in the 1930s. Karpis led the gang along with Fred Barker and Arthur "Doc" Barker. There were only four "public enemies" ever given the title of " Public Enemy #1" by the FBI and he was the only one to be taken alive. The other three, John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Baby Face Nelson, were all killed before being captured. He also spent the longest time as a federal prisoner at Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, serving twenty-six years. John Crawley
John Paul Crawley (born 21 September 1971) is a former English first-class cricketer who played at international level for England and county cricket for Hampshire and Lancashire. Crawley, one of three brothers who all played first-class cricket, was a right-handed batsman and occasional wicket-keeper. Nicknamed "Creepy", he promised much in his early career; he was a leading run-scorer at Under-19 international level and Young Cricketer of the Year in 1994. An elegant leg-side hitter and player of spin bowling, a lack of off-side shots hampered his international career, as did injury.
