''Creative Source'' is the self-titled debut album by Los Angeles, California based R&B group Creative Source. Released in 1973, this album charted at number twenty-one on the R&B albums chart in 1974. It includes the original version of " You Can't Hide Love" that Earth, Wind and Fire cover a couple years later in 1975. Creative Source
Creative Source was an American R&B group from Los Angeles, who had several funk and disco hits during the 1970s. History Creative Source was formed in 1972 by several session musician, veterans of the West Coast recording studios. They were managed by Ron Townson, who was a member of The Fifth Dimension. Their first chart success was 1973's "Can't Hide Love, You Can't Hide Love", but their biggest hit came the following year, a cover version, cover of the Bill Withers tune "Who Is He (And What Is He to You)?". Four albums were issued by the band in three years, but their later singles were less successful, and by 1977, after having lost their recording contract, the group disbanded. Skip Scarborough
Clarence Alexander "Skip" Scarborough (November 26, 1944 – July 3, 2003) was an American songwriter, best known for romantic ballads. Biography Scarborough was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He lived in Los Angeles most of his life. He died of cancer July 3, 2003 in Los Angeles. A prolific songwriter, Scarborough wrote songs performed by L.T.D., Anita Baker and Earth, Wind & Fire. He co-wrote " Giving You the Best That I Got", which won a Grammy Award in 1988 for Best R&B Song. Scarborough was a cousin of fellow songwriter and producer Gary Taylor. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. John Kay (born Joachim Fritz Krauledat; 12 April 1944) is a German-born American rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist known as the frontman of Steppenwolf. Early life He was born in Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany (now Sovetsk, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia).Edwardson, Ryan. Their train got stuck near Arnstadt, which was first occupied by the Americans, but then became part of the East German Soviet occupation zone. Rushton Moreve
Rushton Moreve (born John Rushton Morey; November 6, 1948 – July 1, 1981) was an American bass guitarist best known for his work with the rock band Steppenwolf from 1967–68 and again in 1978. According to singer John Kay, he was an intuitive bassist with a melodic style that brought a non-commercial sound to the band, a technique exemplified on the hit he co-wrote with Kay, " Magic Carpet Ride". Moreve's early influence was essential in creating the unique musical style for which Steppenwolf became famous. He joined the band in 1967 and performed on their debut album, '' Steppenwolf'', which was composed of covers and songs written by Kay. His influence was heavier on the follow-up, ''The Second'', his final album with Steppenwolf. He was killed in 1981 in an auto accident. "Magic Carpet Ride" is a rock song written by John Kay and Rushton Moreve from the Canadian-American hard rock band Steppenwolf. The song was initially released in 1968 on the album ''The Second''. It was the lead single from that album, peaking at number three in the US, and staying in the charts for 16 weeks, longer than any other Steppenwolf song. The 45 rpm version is not only an edit of the album version, but contains a different vocal take on the first verse. Wildflower (Skylark Song)
"Wildflower" is a song written by Doug Edwards and Dave Richardson in 1972. First performed by the Canadian band Skylark, it has been covered by many artists and more recently has been sampled in a number of hip hop songs. The title, "Wildflower", is not mentioned in the song. The closest line to the title occurs as the final line of the repeated chorus: "She's a free and gentle flower growing wild". Skylark recording Doug Edwards was a member of Skylark, and Dave Richardson was a friend of band member and organizer David Foster. Edwards composed "Wildflower" after reading a poem by Richardson; the song was included on the band's demo tape. Barry De Vorzon, by 1972 an established music business name, heard the demo tape and was convinced that the song would be a big hit.
