Henrik Dethloff
Henrik Dethloff (4 April 1867 – 18 June 1925) was a Norwegian philatelist who was a specialist in the stamps of Norway. He was born in Kristiania, the son of merchant Frantz Heinrich Dethloff (1829–1894) and Johanne Andrea Mathilde Wang. He was the older brother of ophthalmologist Hans Gottfried Dethloff, and thus a brother-in-law of Elise Dethloff. Winthrop Smillie Boggs (December 20, 1902 – May 30, 1974) was a philatelist renowned for his expertise and philatelic writing. Prescott Holden Thorp
Prescott Holden Thorp (April 28, 1887 – June 1981), of New Jersey, was a stamp dealer who was a recognized world-famous expert on stamped envelopes of the United States. Philatelic literature Thorp continued the work of Julius (John) Murray Bartels, editing the fifth edition of ''Bartels Catalogue of the Stamped Envelopes and Wrappers of the United States and Possessions''. In 1954 he completed a sixth edition and named it ''Thorp-Bartels Catalogue of the Stamped Envelopes and Wrappers of the United States''. Thorp wrote several other books on philately: ''Catalogue of the 20th Century Stamped Envelopes and Wrappers of the United States'', in 1968, and ''Complete Guide to Stamp Collecting'', in 1953. Stanley Bryan Ashbrook
Stanley Bryan Ashbrook (October 10, 1882 – January 23, 1958), of Kentucky, was a distinguished American philatelist who was known for his extensive studies of early United States stamps and postal history. He was usually known as Stanley B. Ashbrook. Collecting interests Ashbrook was primarily interested in classic United States stamps and postal history in the form of stamped covers. Philatelic activity Ashbrook is most known for his famous two-volume book entitled ''The United States One Cent Stamp of 1851-57'' which was published in 1938. His research of early American postage stamps led him to author the book ''The United States Ten Cent Stamp of 1855-57'' in 1936 for which he received the Crawford Medal in 1937. Herbert Munk
Herbert Munk (26 June 1875 – 19 April 1953) was a distinguished German philatelist and editor of important sections of the seminal Kohl Briefmarken-Handbuch for which he and J.B. Seymour won the Sieger Medal for best philatelic work in the German language in 1931. Munk was president of the Expert Committee of the Union of German Philatelic Societies, and an international philatelic juror before World War Two. He won the Lindenberg Medal in 1925 and his name was added to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists at Torquay in 1932. He signed the roll personally at the Brighton congress in 1933. Carl Schmidt (architect)
Carl Emil Michael Schmidt (russian: Карл Карлович Шмидт, translit=Karl Karlovič Šmidt;December 21, 1866 – 8 August 1945) was a Russo-German architect and philatelist. Born in St. Petersburg, his father Karl Friedrich Adolf Ferdinand Schmidt was a German marine engineer from Anklam in Mecklenburg-Strelitz and mother Olga Helena Schmidt was a Baltic German. He is known as a representative of the "brick-style" and the early Art Nouveau in architecture. Carl Schmidt studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. His villas and houses adorn the streets of St. Petersburg. In autumn 1918 the Schmidt family was forced to leave Russia and back to Germany. In Germany, he could not follow on his architectural work. Dr. Emilio Diena (January 26, 1860 – October 9, 1941), was an Italian philatelist who specialized in the postage stamps of Italy and published substantial research on the subject.
