Crank (The Almighty Album)
''Crank'' is the fourth studio album released by Scottish rock band the Almighty. Two singles, "Jonestown Mind" and "Wrench", were released from the album in multiple parts in the United Kingdom. Music videos were made for both singles. ''Crank'' peaked at #15 in the UK albums chart. The cover artwork, showing an angel throwing a Molotov cocktail at a planet (earth) made out of money was created by noted British artist and anarchist Jamie Reid, who also designed the famous ransom note cover for the Sex Pistols album, ''Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols''. The album was remastered and re-released only in Japan under the Victor Entertainment label including all the studio b-sides from singles released from the album. The Almighty (band)
The Almighty were a Scottish hard rock/ heavy metal band from Glasgow formed in 1988. Three of the founding members, Ricky Warwick, Stump Monroe and Floyd London were friends who met at school. Although the band members musical roots were in punk, the Almighty adopted a more heavy metal/hard rock oriented musical direction in their early years. Later albums saw the band's musical style move towards the band members' original punk roots. They have released seven studio albums, two anthologies and one live album. History 1988–1993 The Almighty were formed in Strathaven on 19 January 1988. Most of the musicians came from a punk background. Lead singer Ricky Warwick had previously done some session and tour work with New Model Army, although not on any of their recordings. ''Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols'' is the only studio album by English punk rock band the Sex Pistols, released on 28 October 1977 by Virgin Records in the UK and on 11 November 1977 by Warner Bros. In particular, the album's raw energy, and Johnny Rotten's sneering delivery and "half-singing", are often considered game-changing. They provide production services such as audio mastering, vinyl cutting and enhanced CD and DVD production. Eileen Rose
Eileen Rose (born January 31, 1965) is an American singer-songwriter who is known for her eclectic Americana music. She has released five solo studio albums and toured Europe and the US extensively with her band The Holy Wreck. She is also a member of the band The Silver Threads. Early years Born Eileen Rose Giadone, in the north Boston suburb of Saugus, Massachusetts, Rose grew up in a close-knit Italian-Irish American family with five older sisters and three brothers. She started writing songs as a teenager and taught herself to read music and play the guitar. Pete Friesen
Pete Friesen (born Peter Menno Friesen; 19 November 1965) is a Canadian guitarist who has recorded with such acts as Alice Cooper, The Almighty and Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. Biography Pete Friesen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. While still playing under the name "Pete Freezin'", he was a member of VO5 with a pre-Skid Row Sebastian Bach. He was a member of Alice Cooper's band from 1989–1991, 1998–2000 and 2002. He played on both the ''Trash'' and ''Hey Stoopid'' tours, and also appears in the film ''Wayne's World'' alongside Cooper, where he memorably asked the question "In fact, isn't Milwaukee an Indian name?" The Ruts
The Ruts (later known as Ruts DC) are an English reggae-influenced punk rock band, notable for the 1979 UK top 10 hit single "Babylon's Burning", and an earlier single "In a Rut", which was not a hit but was highly regarded and regularly played by BBC Radio 1 disc jockey John Peel. The band's newfound success was cut short by the death of lead singer Malcolm Owen from a heroin overdose in 1980. Despite this the band continued under a different musical style as Ruts D.C. until 1983 when they disbanded, the band later reformed in 2007. Charged GBH
GBH (originally known as Charged GBH) are an English punk rock band which was formed in 1978 by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin "Jock" Blyth, bassist Sean McCarthy (replaced by Ross Lomas after two years) and drummer Andy "Wilf" Williams. Background GBH were early pioneers of British street punk, often nicknamed " UK82", along with Discharge, Broken Bones, The Exploited, and The Varukers. GBH have gone on to influence several punk rock musicians, but their influence has been especially far-reaching in metal, including the early Bathory albums, Hellhammer/ Celtic Frost, Exodus and each of the "big four of thrash metal" ( Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax). Stiff Little Fingers
Stiff Little Fingers are a punk rock band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They formed in 1977 at the height of the Troubles, which informed much of their songwriting. They started out as a schoolboy band called Highway Star (named after the Deep Purple song), doing rock covers, until they discovered punk. They were the first punk band in Belfast to release a record – the " Suspect Device" single came out on their own independent label, Rigid Digits. Their album ''Inflammable Material'', released in partnership with Rough Trade, became the first independent LP to enter the UK top 20. After six years and four albums, they split up. They reformed five years later, in 1987. Despite major personnel changes, they are still touring and recording. "Do Anything You Wanna Do" is a song written by Eddie and the Hot Rods' manager Ed Hollis (the brother of Talk Talk's Mark Hollis) and guitarist Graeme Douglas and recorded by the band, although the actual record label credited Rods as the artist. Ricky Warwick
Ricky Warwick (born 11 July 1966) is a Northern Irish musician and the lead singer of the rock bands Black Star Riders and Thin Lizzy. He is also the frontman for the Scottish hard rock band The Almighty, with whom he achieved chart success in the UK throughout the 1990s, although the band is currently on hiatus. Warwick has released several solo albums and performed with a variety of other bands and artists, and also fronts his own band, The Fighting Hearts, to showcase his solo material. Early life Warwick was born in Newtownards, County Down, where he spent his formative years, and got his first guitar at 14 years old.
