Cranbourne South, Victoria
Cranbourne South is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 49 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Cranbourne South recorded a population of 3,241 at the 2021 census. By 2009 the urban growth boundary had moved along Pearcedale and Browns Road, placing a large area of the locality inside the main growth area. Two large scale housing developments, Botanic Ridge and Settlers Run Estate, were established in the area which was excised as the suburb of Botanic Ridge. In 2019, development in Cranbourne South's area began with a new estate called Brompton. The part located within Cranbourne South is bounded by a new part of Ballarto Road to the north, Dandenong-Hastings Road to the west and Cranbourne Road to the south and east. Cranbourne is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It is located south-east of Melbourne and includes the suburbs of Botanic Ridge, Cranbourne, Cranbourne East, Cranbourne North, Cranbourne West, Junction Village, as well as parts of Clyde, Clyde North, Cranbourne South, Devon Meadows, Lynbrook and Lyndhurst. It was created prior to the 1992 state election. Cranbourne was held by Jude Perera of the Labor Party from 2002 to 2018, with a two-party preferred margin of 2.3% at the 2014 state election. However, from 1992 to the 2002 election the seat was held by the Liberal Party, albeit with different boundaries that were more favourable to the Liberals. An urban growth boundary, or UGB, is a regional boundary, set in an attempt to control urban sprawl by, in its simplest form, mandating that the area inside the boundary be used for urban development and the area outside be preserved in its natural state or used for agriculture. The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. The 2021 Census took place on 10 August 2021, and was conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The City of Casey is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Casey is Victoria's most populous municipality, with a June 2018 population of 340,419. It has an area of . Devon Meadows is a town in Victoria, Australia, 50 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Devon Meadows recorded a population of 1,551 at the 2021 census. Devon Meadows Post Office was located at 89 Finsubury Devon Meadows and opened on 21 March 1915, and closed in 1941.The original building was one of the oldest buildings in Devon Meadows.
