Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). The South East Football Netball League was an Australian rules football competition, containing teams near the south eastern region of Victoria, Australia. The 8 teams were all part of the Casey Cardinia division of the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (''MPNFL'') but this competition broke away to form a new league in 2015. At the end of 2018 the league opted to merge with the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League. The league currently consists of 8 teams spread over south-eastern Victoria. Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League
The Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (abbreviated "MPNFL") is an Australian rules football competition, governed by the AFL South East. The MPNFL contains teams near the south eastern region of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. At the end of the 2017 season, the competition was restructured from a geographical to a divisional structure, with promotion/ relegation. It contains two divisions with 22 teams in all, 10 in Division 1 and 12 in Division 2. History The league was formed in 1987 upon the merger of the Mornington Peninsula FL and the Nepean FL. Football on the Peninsula region goes back to 1908, and in 2008 celebrated its centenary. The first league, the Peninsula FA, was formed in 1908. Karingal is a local area within the suburb of Frankston located in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. It is in the local government area of the City of Frankston (app. 45 km South East from the Melbourne CBD) History European settlement of the area now known as Karingal is recorded as far back as the 1840s. Agricultural and pastoral land use continued in the area into the 1960s, when residential development spread from Frankston East into this locality. The club is based at the Edwin Flack Reserve in Berwick, Victoria. The club is notable for its five-year stint in the Victorian Football Association second division during the 1980s. History A football match was recorded having been played in 1879 by the 'Berwick (combined)' club with Dandenong. Two weeks later another match was played by a 'combined team from Berwick and Pakenham'. In 1880 a team is recorded as the 'Berwick and Harkaway United club'.
