Craigmount School
Craigmount School was a private school originally for boys, but for most of its history for girls, in Edinburgh. It opened in 1874 and closed in 1966. History Craigmount was founded in Edinburgh in 1874 as a school for boys. In 1884, it was re-opened as a boarding school for girls. During the Second World War and the immediate post-war years (from 1939–52), the school was at Scone Palace, Perthshire. At the end of the summer term, 1952, it moved to Minto in the Borders, leasing Minto House. In 1962, Minto House was purchased for £20,000. In 1966, the school was closed. Henry Springmann
Henry Springmann (1859–1936) was a rugby union international who represented England from 1879 to 1887. Archibald Williamson, 1st Baron Forres
Archibald Williamson, 1st Baron Forres PC (13 September 1860 – 29 October 1931), known as Sir Archibald Williamson, 1st Baronet, from 1909 to 1922, was a British businessman and Liberal politician. Early life The eldest son of Stephen Williamson MP, and Annie Guthrie, Williamson was educated at Craigmount School, Edinburgh and at Edinburgh University. Career He was Liberal Member of Parliament for Elginshire and Nairnshire from 1906 to 1918 and then for Moray and Nairn until June 1922. He entered parliament in the aftermath of the 1906 Liberal landslide election, taking a seat from the Conservatives. He was created a Baronet in 1909. He sought re-election 4 years later at the General Election and was returned with a reduced majority. William Martin Scott
William Martin Scott (27 March 1870 – 26 February 1944) was an English international rugby union half back who played club rugby for Cambridge University and Northern. Scott played international rugby for England and was an original member of invitational team, the Barbarians. He also played first-class cricket for Cambridge University. Personal history Scott was born in 1870 in Gateshead, the sixth son of Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet of Beauclerc, and Ann Brough. Scott was educated at Craigmount School in Edinburgh, and matriculated at Jesus College, Cambridge, in 1888. He married Janie Campbell on 19 May 1906.
