Craigmore High School
Craigmore is a large suburb north of Adelaide, South Australia. It is in the City of Playford local government area, just east of Elizabeth and south of Gawler. History Craigmore is within the traditional territory of the Aboriginal Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains. European settlement in the area began in early 1850s and the wider district was known as Smithfield based upon the Township established by John Smith. Blair Farm was established by Gavin Scoular on land north of what is now Uley Road and East of Adams Road. Through a series of land purchases from 1853 to 1867 Scoular had built up his land holding to a total of 577 acres. Thomas Hogarth who was a member of South Australian Legislative Council from 1866 until his retirement in 1885 established a property in 1850 called Blair Place on land south of and adjacent to Smith's Creek and east of what is now known as Adams Road. Smithfield, South Australia
Smithfield is a suburb in the northern outskirts of Adelaide, South Australia. It is in the City of Playford. Geography Smithfield has Main North Road as its eastern boundary, with service stations, the historic Smithfield Hotel and several other businesses and private residences. Anderson Walk is the southern boundary of the original village, which was arranged in a grid with Augusta Square in the centre. West of the older residential area is an industrial zone along the railway line, with Smithfield railway station on the south side of Anderson Walk. Munno Para Shopping City is on the south side of Smith Creek. Adelaide Metro is the public transport system of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It is an intermodal system offering an integrated network of bus, tram, and train service throughout the metropolitan area. The network has an annual patronage of 79.9 million, of which 51 million journeys are by bus, 15.6 million by train, and 9.4 million by tram. The system has evolved heavily over the past fifteen years, and patronage increased dramatically during the 2014–15 period, a 5.5 percent increase on the 2013 figures due to electrification of frequented lines. Hope Christian College
Hope Christian College (formerly Craigmore Christian School until October 2014) is Christian co-educational, independent private school in Craigmore, a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the Playford district. It teaches students from Reception to Year 12. The school now has about 756 students, with a capacity of up to 1000. History The Craigmore Christian School was established in 1980 as an affiliation of the Craigmore Christian Church. It changed its name to Hope Christian College on 29 October 2014. Principal George Sears served from 1981–2005. During this period, CCS was known to practise corporal punishment, and was one of the last schools in Australia to do so.
