Craig Hutchinson
Craig Hutchinson (June 23, 1891 – February 1976) was an American film director, director and screenwriter. He directed more than 80 films between 1915 and 1928. He also wrote for 33 films between 1914 and 1927. He was born in Austin, Minnesota. Austin, Minnesota
Austin is a city in, and the county seat of, Mower County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 26,174 at the 2020 census. The town was originally settled along the Cedar River and has two artificial lakes, East Side Lake and Mill Pond. It was named for Austin R. Nichols, the area's first European settler. Hormel Foods Corporation is Austin's largest employer, and the town is sometimes called "SPAM Town USA". Austin is home to Hormel's corporate headquarters, a factory that makes most of North America's SPAM tinned meat, and the Spam Museum. Austin is also home to the Hormel Institute, a leading cancer research institution operated by the University of Minnesota with significant support from the Mayo Clinic. ''A Film Johnnie'' is a 1914 American-made motion picture starring Charles Chaplin, Roscoe Arbuckle, and Mabel Normand. ''His Favourite Pastime'' is a 1914 American comedy film starring Charlie Chaplin. Synopsis Charlie gets drunk in the bar. He steps outside, meets a pretty woman, tries to flirt with her, only to retreat after the woman's father returns. Returning to the bar, Charlie drinks some more and engages in rogue behaviors with others. He finally leaves the bar, sees the woman leaving, follows the woman home, and proceeds to make a nuisance of himself, eventually getting kicked out of the house. Reviews Although Chaplin had only been making comedies for Mack Sennett's Keystone Studio for less than two months when this film was released in March 1914, a reviewer from ''Moving Picture World'' recognized Chaplin's merry-making talents. ''Cruel, Cruel Love'' is a 1914 American comedy silent film made at the Keystone Studios and starring Charlie Chaplin. Plot Chaplin plays a character quite different from the Little Tramp for which he would become famous. In this short Keystone film, Chaplin is instead a rich, upper-class gentleman (Lord Helpus) whose romance is endangered when his girlfriend (played by Minta Durfee) sees him being embraced by her maid and jumps to the wrong conclusion. She angrily sends Lord Helpus away, saying she never wants to see him again. Distraught, when Lord Helpus arrives home he is determined to end his life. He swallows what he thinks is a glass of poison and envisions himself being tortured in Hell. Synopsis Charlie, a resident in a boarding house, is the favorite of his landlord's wife. His fellow male boarders are jealous of the situation and dislike Charlie because of it. They arrange to frighten him with a dummy. Charlie is frightened and runs to the police. Meanwhile, a tramp has hidden himself in a cupboard. The police find him, making Charlie a hero for the moment. The mischievous young son of the landlord, however, has taken a series of compromising photographs and displays them to everyone in a magic lantern show.
