Craig Evans (referee)
Craig Evans (born 12 October 1991 in Neath) is a Welsh rugby referee. He has been a member of Wales' professional rugby union ranks since 2015. Career Evans, who began refereeing as a teenager, began refereeing on the World Rugby Sevens Series in 2016. He refereed during the 2020 Olympics, before committing to the 15-aside game full time. Neath (; cy, Castell-nedd) is a market town and community situated in the Neath Port Talbot County Borough, Wales. The town had a population of 50,658 in 2011. The United Rugby Championship (URC) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. The current name was adopted in 2021 when the league expanded to include four South African teams previously from the SANZAR Super Rugby competition. World Rugby Sevens Series
The World Rugby Men's Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World Sevens Series, the competition was formed to promote an elite-level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product. The competition has been sponsored by banking group HSBC since 2014. The season's circuit consists of 10 tournaments that generally begin in November or December and last until May. The venues are held across 10 countries, and visits five of the six populated continents. Rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place from 26 July to 31 July 2021 at the Tokyo Stadium. 24 teams (12 each for men and women) competed in the tournament. The dates were modified due to the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 games as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Competition The men's and women's rugby sevens competitions took place at Tokyo Stadium, a 2019 Rugby World Cup host venue. The men's sessions took place July 26–28 with the women's sessions happening July 29–31, 2021. Changes In a reverse to the 2016 schedule, the men's competition was played first over three days from July 27–29 with the women's competition taking place from July 30 through August 1 and culminating with the gold medal session. The 2021 Six Nations Championship (known as the Guinness Six Nations for sponsorship reasons) was the 22nd Six Nations Championship, the annual rugby union competition contested by the national teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales, and the 127th edition of the competition (including all its previous incarnations as the Home Nations Championship and Five Nations Championship).
