Crackpots
''Crackpots'' is an Atari 2600 game designed by Dan Kitchen and published by Activision in 1983. It was Kitchen's first game for Activision. In ''Crackpots'', the player controls Potsy, a gardener. Potsy's Brooklyn building is being overrun by bugs trying to climb inside six windows. The player moves Potsy back and forth along the roof to drop pots on the bugs before they can get close enough to enter the windows. Gameplay Each level consists of four waves of twelve bugs each; defeat all four waves and the player will move on to a more difficult and faster-paced level. Play then resumes until the building crumbles to the ground. If six or more bugs enter through the open windows, part of the building will be eaten away, and you will have to replay the level. The patterns vary for different colored bugs. Black bugs will move straight up the building, blue bugs wiggle from left to right, red bugs move diagonally, and green bugs zig-zag between windows. This is a list of games for the Atari Video Computer System, a console renamed to the Atari 2600 in November 1982. Sears licensed the console and many games from Atari, Inc., selling them under different names. A few cartridges were Sears exclusives. ''Activision Anthology'' is a compilation of most of the Atari 2600 games by Activision for various game systems. It also includes games that were originally released by Absolute Entertainment and Imagic, as well as various Homebrew (video games), homebrew games. The Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X versions are titled ''Activision Anthology: Remix Edition'', and include the most games. The PlayStation Portable version is titled ''Activision Hits Remixed''. The game features the original gameplay of the Atari 2600 Emulator, emulated on modern systems. After achieving high scores in some of the games, the player can unlock special modes where the colors are distorted, or the game is projected on a rotating cube as added difficulty. Kaboom! (video Game)
''Kaboom!'' is an action video game published in 1981 by Activision for the Atari VCS (renamed to the Atari 2600 in 1982). It was programmed by Larry Kaplan, and David Crane coded the overlaid sprites. The game was well received and sold over one million cartridges by 1983. ''Kaboom!'' is an unauthorized adaptation of the 1978 Atari, Inc. arcade video game ''Avalanche''. The gameplay of both is fundamentally the same, but ''Kaboom!'' was re-themed to be about a mad bomber instead of falling rocks. Ex-Atari programmer Larry Kaplan originally wanted to port Avalanche to the Atari 2600. In ''Avalanche'' all the boulders are lined up at the top which is difficult to accomplish on the 2600, so the design was adjusted. Atari 8-bit family and Atari 5200 ports followed in 1983.
