__NOTOC__ The Cox-Klemin TW-2 was a 1920s American biplane training aircraft built by the Cox-Klemin Aircraft Corporation. It was powered by a water-cooled Hispano-Suiza 8 V8 aero-engine. Development The CK-2 was a biplane with single-bay biplane that utilized a Fokker scheme of N-shaped interplane struts and metal cabane. The Cox-Klemin Aircraft Corporation was an American aircraft manufacturer based in Long Island, New York in the 1920s. History It was founded by Charles Cox and Alexander Klemin (a professor at New York University) in College Point, New York. The company took over an ordnance plant in Baldwin, New York in 1924. Later that year, it partnered with Ernst Heinkel to design and build a mailplane. In defiance of prohibition, the company christened its new Nighthawk airplane using champagne in 1925. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1925. However, bankruptcy proceedings continued into 1926. The case was further delayed after the court could not locate company management. The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) was the aerial warfare service component of the United States Army between 1926 and 1941. Biplane
A biplane is a fixed-wing aircraft with two main wings stacked one above the other. The first powered, controlled aeroplane to fly, the Wright Flyer, used a biplane wing arrangement, as did many aircraft in the early years of aviation.
