Cowtown Coliseum
Cowtown Coliseum is a 3,418-seat multi-purpose arena in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. The Coliseum hosts weekly rodeos. It also hosts local sporting events and concerts and began hosting the Fort Worth Sixers of the National Indoor Football League starting in 2007. The venue was built in 1908 and was refurbished in 1986. Elvis Presley once performed there. Part of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the structure is the first ever indoor arena for rodeos in the United States. The ''Stockyards Championship Rodeo'' is held at the Coliseum almost every Friday and Saturday. The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) held their very first event in April 1993 at Cowtown Coliseum. It is incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Texas, and created to "recognize, memorialize, and applaud the bull riders, bullfighters, bulls, stock contractors, events, and individuals who have made a historic contribution and attained stellar performance in the sport." The Bud Light Cup Series (BLC) was the first tour and in its first year was the only tour of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). When other tours were created, it became the major league tour of the PBR. Background This series ran from 1994 to 2002. It was the inaugural and only tour at its time of inception, as the PBR started their inaugural season in 1994. This series became the elite series of the PBR. The entire series was telecast on TNN. The Fort Worth Stockyards is a historic district that is located in Fort Worth, Texas, north of the central business district. A portion encompassing much of the district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District in 1976.
