Priddy is an unincorporated community in Mills County in northwestern Central Texas, United States. Mills County is a county located in Central Texas. It was created on March 15, 1887, from parts of four existing counties—Brown, Comanche, Hamilton, and Lampasas. It is the most centrally located county in Texas and encompasses the exact geographical center of the state. The 2020 census reported a population of 4,456. The county seat is Goldthwaite. History The Clovis are the earliest known people to inhabit the territory before Mills County, though recent discoveries indicate that there were earlier cultures in the area as far back as 15,000 to 20,000 years. Hamilton County, Texas
Hamilton County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 8,222. The county seat is Hamilton. The county was created in 1858. It is named for James Hamilton Jr., a former governor of South Carolina who gave financial aid to the Republic of Texas. History Indigenous peoples were the first inhabitants of the area. Later Native American tribes settled in the area, including Tawakoni, Tonkawa, Waco and Comanche. In 1821, shortly after Mexico claimed its independence from Spain, Anglo settlers from the North came to Texas, claiming Mexican citizenship. Coryell County, Texas
Coryell County ( ) is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 83,093. The county seat is Gatesville. The county is named for James Coryell, a frontiersman and Texas Ranger who was killed by Caddo Indians. Coryell County is part of the Killeen–Temple metropolitan statistical area. History Habitation of Coryell County dates as far back as 4500 BC. The Tonkawa, Lipan Apache, Kiowa, and Comanche were among the tribes who migrated through the area at various periods. When the General Colonization Law went into effect in 1824, followed by the 1825 State Colonization Law of Coahuila y Tejas, Robert Leftwich obtained a grant to settle 800 families in Texas. Belton Lake
Belton Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Leon River in the Brazos River basin, 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Belton, Texas, United States. The lake extends into both Bell County and Coryell County. Belton Dam and the lake are both managed by the Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The reservoir was officially impounded in 1954, and serves to provide flood control and drinking water for Belton, Temple, and the surrounding communities. Belton Lake is a popular recreational destination. In the fall of 2018 Lake Belton was host to the annual “Lonestar Throwdown” kayak fishing tournament. Teams from the North, South, Central, and West Texas regions battled it out for bragging rights and ultimately North Texas took home the coveted trophy. Nolanville is a city in Bell County, Texas, Bell County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,917 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Killeen, Texas, Killeen–Temple, Texas, Temple–Fort Hood Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood metropolitan area, Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Nolanville reached its peak as a town between 1890 and 1900, when it went into a holding pattern. A weekly newspaper, the ''Item'', was started by 1896.
