Anthony Cowgill
Anthony Wilson Cowgill (7 November 1915 – 29 October 2009) was a British soldier, engineer and researcher. After a 30-year career in the Army he worked for Rolls-Royce and set up a company offering information and access to government. Past retirement age he initiated his own private inquiry into the Repatriation of Cossacks after World War II, and published the English texts of European Union treaties. World War II service Cowgill was the son of a mill manager from Yorkshire, and studied at Bradford Grammar School and then Manchester Grammar School before studying mining engineering at the University of Birmingham. He joined the army shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, being promoted to Lieutenant in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in 1941. Cowgill later transferred to the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and spent a year in Canada working on waterproofing tanks ready for D-Day. He was Head of Sport for BBC Television from 1963 to 1973, Controller of BBC1 from 1973 to 1977, and Managing Director of Thames Television from 1977 to 1985. Calvin Cowgill (January 7, 1819 – February 10, 1903) was an American lawyer and politician who served one term as a U.S. Representative from Indiana from 1879 to 1881. Biography Born in Clinton County, Ohio, Cowgill attended the common schools. He moved with his parents to Indiana in 1836. He studied law in Winchester, Randolph County. He moved to Wabash County, Indiana, in 1846. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Wabash. He served as member of the Indiana House of Representatives in 1851 and again during the special session of 1865. Collin Brannen Cowgill (born May 22, 1986) is an American former professional baseball outfielder and current major league coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Oakland Athletics, New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels, and the Cleveland Indians. George Cowgill
George L. Cowgill (; December 19, 1929 – July 31, 2018) was an American anthropologist and archaeologist. He was a professor of anthropology at Arizona State University from 1990-2005, and research professor emeritus from 2005 until his death. He received his PhD from Harvard in 1963 with a dissertation on The Post-Classic Period in the Southern Maya Lowlands. Most of his career was devoted to research at the ancient Mexican city of TeotihuacΓ‘n. He taught at Brandeis University between 1960 and 1990. Joseph Robert Cowgill (23 February 1860 – 12 May 1936) was an English prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the third Bishop of Leeds. Life and ministry Joseph Cowgill was born in village Broughton in North Yorkshire on 23 February 1860. He was ordained to the priesthood on 19 May 1883 at an age of 23. He then served as assistant priest in the Diocese of Leeds. On 26 September 1905, Cowgill was appointed as coadjutor Bishop of Leeds and titular Bishop of Olena.
