Auvergnat
or (endonym: ) is a northern dialect of Occitan spoken in central and southern France, in particular in the former administrative region of Auvergne. Currently, research shows that there is not really a true Auvergnat dialect but rather a vast northern Occitan linguistic area. The word "Auvergnat" is above all a local historiographical creation. According to linguist Jean Roux, "It is by simplification that we use this term, because in no case Auvergnat can be considered as an autonomous linguistic entity". With around 80,000 speakers in the Auvergne region at the beginning of the 21st century, it is considered to be severely endangered. Lalinde
Lalinde (; oc, La Linda) is a Communes of France, commune in the Dordogne Departments of France, department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It lies on the river Dordogne (river), Dordogne and was enclosed within fortified walls of which little remains today. Lalinde station and Couze station have rail connections to Bordeaux, Bergerac and Sarlat-la-Canéda. History In its past, it was a strategically important military site being the first "English bastide town"; it suffered various sieges during the Hundred Years' War and again in 1562 and 1572 during the French Wars of Religion, Wars of Religion. The train station was built in 1877 and the bridge over the Dordogne River in 1880, though there are signs of earlier crossings including a ford going back to Roman times.
