The 2009 Coupe de France Final was the 91st final of France's most prestigious cup competition, the Coupe de France. The final was played at the Stade de France in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis on 9 May 2009 and was contested between Rennes of Ligue 1 and Guingamp of Ligue 2. Guingamp earned its first Coupe de France trophy after defeating Rennes 2–1 through two second-half goals from Eduardo. Background This was Rennes' fifth appearance in the final, having won the cup in 1965 and 1971, and finishing as runners-up in 1922 and 1935. It was Rennes' first final playing under its new emblem and name having achieved the previous honours under the Université Club emblem. The 2008–09 Coupe de France was the 92nd season of the French most prestigious cup competition and was open to all clubs in French football, as well as seven teams from overseas departments and territories (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Réunion).
