County Road 470 (Sumter County, Florida)
The following is a list of county roads in Sumter County, Florida. All county roads are maintained by the county in which they reside; however, only a fraction are marked with standard MUTCD-approved county road shields. Most rural roads in Sumter County have been assigned county road numbers rather than names. Few of these are included in the list; most routes below are former state roads. County Road 44A County Road 44A exists along the north side of State Road 44 in Wildwood and Orange Home, and was formerly designated as SR 44A. The road begins southeast of the interchange with Interstate 75, and instantly intersects with CR 225, which runs north and south, while CR 44A runs directly east and west until it curves slightly to the right and becomes Kilgore Street. The road then moves south onto Central Avenue running parallel to the CSX line until reaching Lynum Street, and crosses the tracks until Lynum Street terminates at US 301. Okahumpka is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 267 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the location of the Historic Campbell House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Florida State Road 50
State Road 50 (SR 50) runs across the center of the U.S. state of Florida through Orlando, with its termini at SR 55 (US 19) at Weeki Wachee and SR 5 (U.S. Route 1) in Titusville. SR 50 is signed east–west. Within various counties throughout the state, the highway is signed with various names such as Cortez Boulevard in Hernando County and Colonial Drive in Orange County. The former section includes the concurrency with US 98 between Brooksville and near Ridge Manor. US 98-SR 50 is the only interchange with Interstate 75 in Hernando County. Several portions of SR 50 east of SR 436 follow the original Cheney Highway, which was named for John Moses Cheney and was the first road to the coast from Orlando. Mabel is an unincorporated community in central Sumter County, Florida, United States. The postal codes are 33597, which is shared by Webster to the northwest and 33514, which is shared by Center Hill to the north. Geography Mabel is bordered by the Withlacoochee State Forest to the south, Linden to the west, Center Hill to the north, and Lake County to the east. Transportation and economy The main road through Mabel is State Road 50. Two abandoned railroad lines also run through Mabel. One was the Orange Belt Railway line that spans from Trilby in Pasco County to Sylvan Lake in Seminole County. Coleman, Florida
Coleman is a city in Sumter County, Florida, United States. The population was 703 at the 2010 census. According to the U.S. Census estimates of 2018, the city had a population of 877. History Second Seminole War On June 8, 1840, Colonel W. J. Worth, Colonel Bennet Riley, and the Second and Eighth Infantry divisions transferred to Fort McClure to search the Lake Panasoffkee area for Seminole warriors. Three days later, the troops discovered an empty village. Modern town By 1853, Fort McClure was renamed Warm Springs. In 1882, the town was renamed Coleman after Dr. B. F. Coleman.
