County Of Belmore
The County of Belmore is a county in Queensland, Australia, located west of the Darling Downs in the Shire of Balonne. Like all counties in Queensland, it is a non-functional administrative unit, that is used mainly for the purpose of registering land titles. It was officially named and bounded by the Governor in Council on 7 March 1901 under the ''Land Act 1897''. St George is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Balonne, Queensland, Australia. It is the administrative centre for the Shire of Balonne. In the , St George had a population of 3,048 people. Geography The town is due west of Brisbane and the Gold Coast and sits just inside the region of South West Queensland, Australia. St George is on the Balonne River which is reputedly an excellent fishing site for fish such as Yellowbelly and Murray Cod. Nindigully is a rural town within the locality of Thallon in the Shire of Balonne, Queensland, Australia. Geography Nindigully is north of the town of Thallon, the main town in the locality. The Moonie River flows south to north passing the town immediately to the west. The Carnarvon Highway passes north to south passing the town immediately to the east; the Barwon Highway has its junction with the Carnarvon Highway to the north-east of the town. History The name ''Nindigully'' is said to be a combination of an Aboriginal word (''nindi'' meaning ''small'') and the English word gully.
