''Country Roads'' is a Canadian country music television series which aired on CBC Television CBC Television (also known as CBC TV) is a Canadian English-language broadcast television network owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the national public broadcaster. Premise Ronnie Prophet hosted this Toronto-produced series filled in the time slot of ''The Tommy Hunter Show'' between seasons. It combined the performances new Canadian country musicians with humorous segments. Comedy characters included puppets Harold the Frog and Yackie Duck which were created by John and Alison Vandergun and voiced by Prophet. The rural newspaper publisher, Granny Slanders, was portrayed by comedian Gwen Neighbour. Regular segments of each episode included the "New Song Spot", "The Grease Spot" which featured rockabilly songs and "It's Cryin' Time Again" which featured country songs with sad themes. Sched ... Ronnie Prophet
Ronald Lawrence Victor Prophet (26 December 1937 – 2 March 2018) was a Canadian-American country musician and comedy performer. He was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada. In his childhood, Prophet lived in Calumet, Quebec, and began performing at local venues in his youth. His successful musical career in the United States began in the mid-1960s. Prophet also performed in numerous Canadian television productions in the 1970s including '' Grand Old Country'' and '' The Ronnie Prophet Show''. From 1997, he was based in Branson, Missouri, United States, and was married to musician Glory-Anne Carriere. Prophet died on 2 March 2018 at his home in Tavares, Florida, following cardiac and kidney failure. He was 80. Queen's University At Kingston
Queen's University at Kingston, commonly known as Queen's University or simply Queen's, is a public research university in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Queen's holds more than of land throughout Ontario and owns Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, England. Queen's is organized into eight faculties and schools. The Church of Scotland established Queen's College in October 1841 via a royal charter from Queen Victoria. The first classes, intended to prepare students for the ministry, were held 7 March 1842 with 13 students and two professors. In 1869, Queen's was the first Canadian university west of the Maritime provinces to admit women. In 1883, a women's college for medical education affiliated with Queen's University was established after male staff and students reacted with hostility to the admission of women to the university's medical classes.
